Maxwell Joseph “Max” Stanley is more prominently recognized by his online alias, maxmoefoe. He’s an Australian YouTuber famed for crafting challenge-oriented videos and engaging in collaborations with various fellow YouTubers such as TVFilthyFrank, HowToBasic and iDubbbzTV.
Max also manages three additional channels on YouTube: maxmoefoetwo, which served as his second channel; maxmoefoegames, dedicated to gaming content; and maxmoefoePokemon, continuing to feature Pokémon-related videos and is the only still active channel out of the three. As of 6 January 2019, he joined as a co-host for the “Cold Ones” podcast, initially established by Anything4views.
Early life and before YouTube
Max was born on 10 August 1993 (currently 30 years old) in Nannup, Western Australia. He grew up alongside three brothers and a sister, in a dynamic household. His brother Earl appeared in some of his first YouTube videos, but besides this there isn’t many known relevant bits of information about his upbringing and family, nor his educational background. The YouTuber has been a long time fan of “Pokemon“ and has always displayed an interest in collecting Pop Vinyl figures. Prior to his fame, he was a member of a punk band by the name of “Your Judgment Means Nothing“.
Career
He created his YouTube channel in 2007, and posted his debut video, a Pivot animation a year later. However, it wasn’t until four years after establishing his YouTube presence that he began creating prank videos. Most of his content consists of various challenges as well, some of the most famous are “ Slip N Slide of Death “ featuring YouTuber HowToBaic, as well as the “Cinnamon Challenge“ .
Stanley posted a prank video on 5 April 2012, in which he phoned a McDonald’s establishment, feigning a complaint about discovering feces in his burger. In October 2013, Max took hiatus from his main channel for personal reasons, reportedly finding it challenging to film while residing in a crowded house with seven occupants. By March 2014, he’d announced his relocation to a new residence on his second channel, and expressed plans to resume video releases. Shortly after this announcement, he posted a video on his “Pokemon” dedicated channel, in which he opened a “Mystery Pokemon Box“.
Initially, Max’s content revolved around prank calls and unboxing videos. Yet in 2015, he declared discontinuation of prank calls and unboxing videos to focus on collaborations with FilthyFrank, iDubbbz, Anything4views, and occasionally HowToBasic. These YouTube comedians formed a group “The Shrimpson Boys”, whose ideology as a group remained a mystery. Another interesting detail about the mentioned group is that iDubbbz never officially joined the group, but what makes the fan associate him with it are his recurring appearances in “The Filthy Frank Show”. The group also adopted names “The Holy Brothers” and “The Tempura Boys”.
FilthyFrank posted a video named ‘Vomit Cake’ on 10 July 2015, showcasing a cake baking session with Stanley. Another video, posted by MaxMoeFoe on 30 April 2016, featured a Super Mario-themed storyline with Filthy Frank playing Mario, Idubbbz as Luigi, and Stanley portraying Princess Peach.” During that spring, viewers initiated pairing Filthy Frank and Stanley, dubbing the latter as “Mama Max.”
Although he ceased uploading content on his main channel in late 2016, Max has expressed intentions to resume uploading, both in a tweet and on his Pokémon channel,. During a “Cold Ones” podcast, he expressed surprise at the extended duration since his last upload, and clarified that the lengthy break was unintentional. Also in the video, they discuss the difference in the way they pursued streaming and YouTube careers while engaging in the drinking game. A lot of fans commented on how much they miss the old days, and how they would love to see the original squad in a video just conversing and having fun.
Controversies
Some of the past controversies involving Maxmoefoe included elements related to edgy and sometimes even crude humor, pranks, or content that some viewers found offensive or inappropriate. Additionally, some of the content shared on his channel in collaboration with other YouTubers, such as Filthy Frank (Joji) and iDubbbz, often pushed boundaries, and occasionally sparked debates in comments about appropriateness.
One of the most notable controversies was the “Lord of the Dings “prank call. After Max carried out a prank call targeting an auto repair shop named “Lord of the Dings,” it resulted in his appearance on Nine News Australia. The shop owner reported the incident to the police, who informed him of their inability to take action. Frustrated by this, the owner turned to the news outlet seeking increased publicity for his business. Maxmoefoe found this amusing, and posted a YouTube video “I was on the News for Prank calls” .
Some of the biggest controversies involving this prominent YouTuber, resulted in him being censored due to inappropriateness of the footage he posted. First strike on his channel was due to an Omegle video from Maxoefoe’s series “trolling on Omegle “. The video allegedly contained graphic content including an adolescent man in the act of autoeroticism who was suspected to be underage in the clip. In 2012, Max uploaded a video in which he portrayed himself as a 13-year-old girl on Omegle. During the interaction, he exposed one of the participants as a pedophile – YouTube removed the video due to its content, resulting in a second strike on Max’s channel; following Google’s guidelines, his account faced a two-week ban. Upon returning to YouTube, Max appeared to have gained a better understanding of the content his videos should include.
Personal relationships and marriage
The YouTuber had a lasting relationship with Katherine Foxx, known as foxkatt on Instagram. They became engaged in 2021, and exchanged vows in November 2023.
