Mark Messier is a retired professional ice hockey player from Canada. He is sometimes referred to by the nicknames “Moose” and “Mess”. He was born in Edmonton, Alberta, on the 18th of January, 1961. He is widely thought to be one of the sport’s greatest ever players.

Messier played hockey at St. Francis Xavier High School, where his father coached the team. His career began in 1978, when she played in the Alberta Junior Hockey League. In 1979, he moved to the Edmonton Oilers, where he fared better, in 1984 winning the Conn Smythe Trophy for “Most Valuable Player”. Messier has also undertaken some acting work. He appeared in the television mini-series “The Garden’s Defining Moments” in 2015 and 2016, and in various hockey based programmes and made for TV movies, contributing to his overall wealth.
In his personal life, Messier has three children. His eldest son, Lyon, born in 1987, also had a career as a professional hockey player, a defenceman who played for teams including the South Carolina Stingrays and the New Mexico Scorpions.
