To begin with, the boy was raised on a military base in Honolulu, Hawaii brother, with his brother Thomas, as their father served in the military. The family eventually settled in Cincinnati, Ohio, where Fischbach enrolled to study biomedical engineering at the University of Cincinnati, but then dropped-out to concentrate on his YouTube career.

Concerning his professional career, Fischbach joined YouTube in the middle of 2012 with the channel Markiplier. Fischbach’s first video game series was playing the game “Amnesia: The Dark Descent”, but after several other games, including “Dead Space”, YouTube blocked Fischbach’s AdSense account, for unclear reasons, and his appeal was denied. As a result, he created a new channel called MarkiplierGAME, and since then he has partnered with other creators including Jacksepticeye, PewDiePie, CaptainSparklez and LixianTV, and had roles in TomSka’s asdf movie series, “Smosh: The Movie” and “Gamer’s Guide to Pretty Much Everything”.

Mark also plays many different games on his channel, such as the “Five Nights at Freddy’s”, “Happy Wheels”, “Minecraft” and many more. He has participated in many internet challenges too, such as the Cinnamon Challenge. He has also co-directed events such as the 2015 South By Southwest (SXSW) Gaming Awards with voice-over artist Janet Varney. He joined the Red Giant Entertainment Network at the end of 2014 too. In 2015, Fischbach partnered with YouTube creators Daniel Kyre and Ryan Magee, creating Cyndago channel, and Matt Watson of Maker Studios joined Cyndago after moving to Los Angeles. They were known for the unexpected ends to their videos and their black humour. However, following Kyre’s attempted suicide on 16 September 2015 and his subsequent death after two days, the remaining members dissolved Cyndago; at this time Cyndago had created 40 sketches and 14 songs in collaboration with Fischbach. Watson and Magee then decided to work on Watson’s own channel, but they continue to work with Fischbach and are often seen in his videos. All these activities contributed steadily to Mark’s net worth.

Finally, in the personal life of the social media star, he is in relationship with Amy Nelson. In late 2015, Fischbach announced in a video that he would renounce alcohol. He made this decision after a mild heart attack which saw him hospitalised, with doctors advising him to stop drinking alcohol.

Fischbach regularly organizes donation live streams, their proceeds among others going to the children’s hospital Cincinnati, or the Best Friends Animal Society, which cares for stray animals.
