Mac Dre Net Worth $1.5 million
Mac attended Hogan High School, and then started his rap career under the name MC Dre. However, he soon changed it to Mac Dre and eventually got his start in the music industry. In 1989 he released his first EP which led to two more releases to 1992, when he was charged with conspiracy to commit robbery, which saw him sent him to prison for five years; at the time, he owned a record label called Romp Productions and was earning a significant amount of money. During his time in prison he would obtain a G.E.D. and even recorded an album over the ‘phone, about law enforcement. He also helped teach rapper X-Raided some rhyming skills over the phone.
The album “Mac Dre Presents: The Rompalation” was released in 1996 while he was in prison. He was released the following year and worked on his next album called “Stupid Doo Doo Dumb”, eventually released in 1998, and he then worked on his next project called “Rapper Gone Bad”. Dre would leave the town he grew up in to get away from his past, and relocated to Sacramento. During his time there, he started to embrace a more party oriented lifestyle to make up for the lost time he had in prison. He founded the record label Thizz Entertainment, and became an advocate of helping others get out of the streets as he had. After the establishment of his new label, he started to work with big names in the music industry including Andre Nickatina, Jay Tee, and Mac Mall.
For his personal life, it is known that Mac Dre had his share of disputes with other members of the industry. In 2004, he was set to do a show and was reportedly having a payment dispute with one of the club promotors. While he was travelling early in the morning, a group of assailants in a stolen car started shooting at the van in which Dre was a passenger. The car crashed and the driver was able to call 911 but Mac was pronounced dead at the scene, having been hit by a bullet to the back of the neck. His death remains unsolved with no leads as to who killed him and why. He was buried in Oakland at the Mountain View Cemetery.
