Personal life, marriage, children

LeeAnn Kreischer married her husband, stand-up comedian Bert Kreischer, in December 2003, at the age of 32. They first met accidentally sometime in 2001, when LeeAnn had just turned 30. She was heartbroken because of a romantic break-up, while struggling financially and sharing a room with a female friend, with whom she was writing her first novel, which would serve as a breakthrough for a career in literature. Bert and a fellow of his were acquainted with LeeAnn’s friend, and they stopped by for a casual visit. LeeAnn wasn’t impressed, and although in several early interviews she denied recalling this first encounter, she later revealed that she thought he was obnoxious, arrogant, rude, and rushed.

Later on, when she learned about his past adventurous and romantic exploits as an undergraduate, she felt that this first impression was spot on.

They met accidentally for a second time while training in the same Yoga gym in Hollywood, but nothing came out of this encounter either.

The third time was slightly different, both in context and results. Sometime in 2002, LeeAnn’s writer friend organized a bowling party, to which she invited both of them as part of a larger group. At this time LeeAnn had overcome her heartbreak, and was open to new encounters and dating. The competing bowling groups were divided between singles and those in a relationship – LeeAnn and Bert formed a two-person team as part of the singles group, and won the competition.

LeeAnn has several hobbies -she loves gardening as much as she likes talking about ecology on her podcast. She also loves animals, and the family has a dog. Furthermore, she’s a philanthropist and does fundraising for several causes, mostly centered around the well-being of children.
