Kroy started his career in Hardin High School, earning letters in wrestling and on the track as well as football, being team captain, First-team All-State pick at linebacker, but First-team All-Conference at running back in 2002 and 2003, plus participating in Montana’s Annual East-West Shrine Game.

Kroy then went to the University of Montana, continuing in his three sports and as captain of both wrestling and football teams. Eventually Kroy chose to concentrate on football; he was subsequently a Walter Camp First-team Small College All-American pick, and voted a Second-team Little All-America selection by both The Sports Network and the Associated Press, and to the First-team All-Big Sky Conference, and the outstanding linebacker at the 2008 Hula Bowl.

During the 2008 NFL Draft, Kroy was selected in the fifth round by the Atlanta Falcons, and played for them until the end of the 2015-16 season, leading the team in sacks in several seasons. He’s also scored two touchdowns, one a recovered fumble from New Orleans’ quarterback Drew Breeze in November 2009, and another from an intercept from Cleveland Browns quarterback Jake Dellhomme in 2010.

However, Kroy missed most of the 2013 season with a torn tendon, and then tore his achilles tendon in 2015. Still, he was offered a one-year contract extension of almost two million dollars in 2015. He finished the 2015-16 season with accumulated statistics of 55 tackles, 2.5 sacks, and one forced fumble. He then signed a one season contract with the Buffalo Bills in August 2016, but became a free agent the next month when the roster was finalized.

Speaking about Kroy’s personal life, he has been married to Kim Zolciak since 2011; they have three sons and a daughter, and two daughters from Kim’s previous marriage. The two met the previous year on “The Real Housewives of Atlanta”, while fundraising in support of research into Alzheimer’s disease.
