Kenneth Charles Osmond is an actor and former police officer, born on 7th June 1943 in Glendale, California, USA. He is best known for his iconic role of Eddie Haskel in the 1950s TV comedy “Leave It to Beaver”, and its reprise with the 1980s series “The New Leave It to Beaver”.

Ken started acting in childhood, as his mother had ambitions to get him and his brother, Dayton, into acting. He apparently began appearing at professional auditions when he was just four, and soon started to work in commercials. Among several other activities, Ken and his brother attended acting and diction classes every day after school. Their film debut was as child extras in “Plymouth Adventure”(1952), the Mayflower pilgrim tale which starred Spencer Tracy. Soon followed cameo appearances in films like “So Big”, “Good Morning, Miss Dove” and Everything But the Truth”. At the age of fourteen, Ken got the key role of Eddie Haskell in the popular TV show “Leave It to Beaver”, and became an instant sensation; Osmond stayed on the show for six seasons, until its demise in 1963, which established his net worth.
However, despite the fame he gained during the airing of the show, Ken had a difficult time after its end. He managed to grab a few roles in comedy shows such as “The Munsters”, “Petticoat Junction” and “Lassie”, and was also cast in films like “C’mon Let’s Live a Little” and “With Six You Get Eggroll” during the late ‘60s, but never achieved much success.
Ken soon decided to abandon his acting career, and joined the Los Angeles Police Department. The film featured five actors from the original cast, and Ken’s real-life offspring, Christian and Eric Osmond also appeared in the series as his sons. In 1997, a full-length film version was released, bringing Osmond back to the screen once again.
Today, Ken still makes occasional appearances at film festivals, nostalgia conventions and collectors’ shows. His more recent activity includes co-authoring the book along with Christopher J. Lynch entitled “Eddie: The Life and Times of America’s Pre-eminent Bad Boy”, which was published in 2014.
