Katie Rodan Net Worth $550 Million

Little is known about Katie’s early life and family in the whole. She went to the University of Southern California, School of Medicine, and since day one she knew she wanted to become a dermatologist. In order to support her education, Katie created a small business, making purses and jewelry which she sold to school friends. After she graduated with a medical degree, she entered Stanford University, where she completed her residency in dermatology. Apart from a degree in medicine, Katie is also an undergraduate of history at University of Virginia.

Following the completion on her residency in 1987, Katie started a private practice in Oakland, California, alongside her college friend Kathy Fields; the two had met at Stanford University. The two were dissatisfied with insurance policies, since companies didn’t provide payment for acne visits and preventative acne treatments, so they decided to develop a skin care product that could be sold out of a doctor’s office. The two invested around $60,000 and hired a chemist to help them make a skin care product. Proactiv was launched in 1995 through marketer Guthry-Renker which proved very successful, and since then they have developed several products which include facemasks and body washes among others, the sales of which have certainly increased Katie’s net worth.

In 2002 the two expanded their kingdom by starting another company Rhodan + Fields, but just a year later they sold it to Estée Lauder, but bought it back in 2007, and since then have grown the firm to the size where they have annual revenues of $300 million.

Apart from companies, Katie also works as Adjunct Clinical Assistant Professor of Dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine, which has also contributed to her net worth.

Regarding her personal life, Katie is married and has two children.

She is also an activist, and has held numerous public events in which she has spoken about skin diseases and cosmetic issues; for her contribution to dermatology she received the 2003 Cosmetic Executive Women’s Award.
