Katherine Anne Couric was born on 7 January 1957, in Arlington, Virginia USA, of German-Jewish (mother) and French (father) descent, and is an American journalist, TV anchor, author, television producer and actress, perhaps best known now as  Yahoo global news anchor.

In 1989, Couric joined NBC News and until 1991 worked as an anchor substitute and filled in for Bryant Gumbel, Jane Pauley, John Palmer and Mary Alice Williams. Couric’s public recognition began in 1991 with her joining the morning television show “Today” as a national political correspondent, and later becoming a permanent co-anchor. In her personal life, Katie Couric married Jay Monaghan in 1989, and they had two daughters before Monahan died from colon cancer in 1998.  Since then, Couric has actively participated in charity events, in particular becoming a spokeswoman for colon cancer awareness. Couric is also active in National Hockey League’s “Hockey Fights Cancer” campaign, as well as National Parkinson Foundation’s campaign to raise awareness of a Parkinson’s disease. Katie married John Molner in 2014.
