Julie Bidwell was born on 25 September 1973, in Hartford, Connecticut, USA, the daughter of Fabiola R. and Howard Dexter Bidwell. Of Colombian heritage on her mother’s side, she has a sister and four older half-siblings from her father’s first marriage.
She was been fascinated with women journalists from an early age, wanting to become one of them. She would spend nights waiting for the news programs. Her interest in journalism increased as she got older, and after high school, Julie enrolled at Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts, from which she obtained a bachelor’s degree in journalism.
Career Beginnings
Once she obtained her degree, Julie joined WLVI-TV in Boston. After a year of honing her skills there, Julie moved to WHSV-TV station, headquartered in Harrisonburg, Virginia, where she was the local news anchor for two years before she became the news anchor and reporter for WBRE-TV in January 1999.
However, this didn’t last long, as Julie was recruited by WFSB TV in her hometown of Hartford, where she remained there for two years, after which she became the reporter for WNYW, headquartered in New York City, a Fox News affiliate and better known as the flagship Fox 5.
She served almost four years in the position before she was recruited by Fox News channel as an anchor, beginning her work on “Fox Report with Jon Scott”. She also had a general-assignment reporter role and in 2006, she gained international acclaim after clashing on air with a former spokeswoman for the Westboro Baptist Church, Shirley Phelps-Roper, stating that these people should be arrested and continued to say that they have disgraced fallen soldiers and innocent young children, and that they should receive the death penalty.
This put her on the map, and she began her rise in the corporate world of Fox News. She began contributing to other shows, including “Red Eye with Tom Shillue” as a guest panelist.
Rise to Prominence
As her career improved, Julie’s assignments at Fox News increased, and in 2008 she replaced Laurie Dhue as the anchor of “Fox Report Weekend”. After maternity leave she took in 2010, she returned and was promoted to a role of a general news correspondent.
Her new assignments took her to several new on-screen appearances on Fox News, contributing to the shows “Happening Now” (2012-2018), then “Fox and Friends”, which she also co-hosted, then “Fox News Live” (2012-2023), while from 2014 to 2023, she featured in 70 episodes of the “Outnumbered” show as a guest co-host and Fox News correspondent. Some of her most praised reports include the crash landing of Southwest Flight 345 at LaGuardia Airport, then the inauguration of Pope Francis, the live coverage of the New York City mayoral race, and of Hurricane Sandy. Over the years, she’s also been focused on stories about health and wellness for the Fox News channel.

She announced their engagement while on-air on “America’s Election Headquarters” on 21 September 2008.
The couple held a wedding ceremony on 29 August 2009 at Fifth Avenue Presbyterian Church. Since then, the couple has welcomed three children, Addison Melissa Sansone, born in 2010, Avery Julie in 2012, and Andrew Harrison in 2016.
