Josha is an award-winning Dutch actor, probably best known to the world as Rand al’Thor in the TV series “The Wheel of Time” (2021-2022), among several other notable appearances that he’s made during his young career.

Josha launched his career early in his youth, appearing as an 11-year-old boy in the play “Kuifje: De Zonnetempel”, directed by Frank van Laecke. He continued with theater roles in such projects as the musical “Ciske de Rat” in 2007, and “The Sound of Music” in 2008. After successfully starting his on-screen career, he didn’t work in theater for a while, but has still appeared in the plays “Gender” (2017), “Bromance” and “Oedipus” both in 2018.
On-Screen Career
His on-screen career began in 2011, when he was a teenager in the kids TV series “Naranjina En De Kadekapers”, about a girl who lives in Rotterdam harbor with her big dog Dokko, without knowing who her parents were. He appeared in one episode of the popular series, before he portrayed Pascal Roozen in the Dutch daytime soap opera “Spangas”, which follows the lives of a group of students at their high school, Spangalis College.
He continued his career with a one-time appearance as Wil in the TV family drama series “Verbogen Verhalen”, which starred one of Netherland’s most-promising actors, Nils Verkooijen, while in 2013, Josha starred in the short romantic-drama film “Uitgesproken”, next to Joel Mellenberg and Yldau de Boer.
His first English language project was the drama film “Boys on Film 13: Trick & Treat” in 2015, which starred Liam Boyle, Dan Connolly and Austin Fryberger. Two years later, he starred in the short fantasy comedy film “I Can Fly”, directed by Ruwan Suresh Heggelman and co-starring Frieda Barnhard.
Rise to Prominence
Josha’s performance raised attention, and in 2018 he was cast alongside Majd Mardo and Jenny Arean in the award-winning romantic comedy movie “Gewoon Vrienden”, also known as “Just Friends”. His performance as a young gay man won him the Jury Prize at the OUT at the Movies Int’l LGBT Film Fest in the category for Best Performance in a Leading Role.
