John Fox Net Worth $13 Million

John Fox grew up in San Diego, California and went to the Castle Park High School in Chula Vista, where he played football. Later, Fox studied at San Diego State University, and earned his bachelor’s degree in physical education. He played as a defensive back while there, and upon graduation, John signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, but he never made it to the NFL.

Instead, Fox joined San Diego State as a graduate assistant in 1978, and a year later got a job as a new defensive backs coach for the US International University. John had troubles keeping a job for a longer period, so he coached defensive backs at the Boise State (1980), Long Beach State (1981), Utah (1982), Kansas (1983), Iowa State (1984), and Los Angeles Express (1985), before settling in Pittsburgh, where he worked as a defensive coordinator & defensive backs coach from 1986 to 1988. Nevertheless, these were steady contributors to his net worth.

In 1989, Fox moved to the NFL and served the Pittsburgh Steelers until 1991 as a Defensive backs coach. In 1992, John returned to his beloved San Diego to work with the Chargers, and also spent a season with the Los Angeles Raiders, before he became the defensive coordinator of the New York Giants in 1997. Fox stayed there for four seasons and was the part of a team that played in the Super Bowl XXXV, but the Giants lost to the Baltimore Ravens, 7-34.

In 2002, Fox was appointed to his first head coach job, after he signed a contract with the Carolina Panthers. He immediately improved the team and even took them to Super Bowl XXXVIII, although defeated by the New England Patriots, 29-32, thanks to Adam Vinatieri’s last-second field goal. Two years later, the Panthers played in the NFC Finals, but this time, the Seattle Seahawks prevented them from reaching the Super Bowl. In the 2006 season, Fox and Carolina had an 8-8 record and failed to get into the postseason, then also missed in 2007, while in 2008 they had a 12-4 record, but were eliminated by the Arizona Cardinals in the first round of the playoffs. Following a couple of unsuccessful seasons, including the Panthers finishing with a 2-14 record, Fox didn’t get a new deal, and he left Carolina in 2010.

The Denver Broncos signed Fox to a 4-year $14 million contract, and he became one of six coaches that have reached the Super Bowl with two or more teams when he led the Broncos to the Super Bowl XLVIII in 2014, but the Seattle Seahawks destroyed them, 8-43. The next season, they recorded 12-4 season but lost to the Indianapolis Colts in the Divisional Round, and that was enough for the Broncos GM John Elway to part ways with Fox. In January 2015, Fox signed a contract with the Chicago Bears, which only further increased his net worth, but has a poor record thus far – 9-23 – missing the playoffs in both seasons.

Regarding his personal life, John Fox has been married to Robin since 1985, and they have three sons and a daughter.
