Jimmy joined the 1995 NBA Draft and was selected by the Toronto Raptors in the second round, 35th pick overall. During his first season he didn’t achieve much in terms of statistics, and he was then traded to the Dallas Mavericks, where he would be waived. He subsequently joined the CBA playing for the Quad City Thunder, and then left the team for a 10-day contract with the Denver Nuggets, which didn’t amount to much. He played a few years in Europe and eventually returned to the CBA, coming back to the Quad City Thunder and becoming the 1998 MVP of the team. His performance here led him to become part of the US team for the 1998 FIBA World Championships, a team that would win bronze. His final season in the NBA would come in the year 2000, when he was part of the Indiana Pacers. All the above contributed to his net worth.

After basketball, King went on and pursued other endeavors and was reported to have become a financial advisor on Wall Street. He was also hired as a color commentator for the Michigan Wolverines. Currently, Jimmy is a Program Director for the non-profit organization H.Y.P.E. which aims at mentoring and helping Detroit youth. He has also become the President of J King Solar Technologies. He was featured in an ESPN Special called “30 for 30” which included the run and popularity of the “Fab Five”.

For his personal life, it is known that Jimmy has a son, who was included a bit in a spotlight due to King’s arrest. In 2011, Jimmy was detained because of failure to pay child support at the amount of $17,000, the circumstances of which were not published, but he eventually paid his debt and the case was dismissed. Other than that, not much is known about his private life.
