Park started developing interest in breakdancing and hip-hop music at a young age. He attended Edmonds Woodway High School, where he spent most of his free time practicing dance. Eventually, he started learning raps and would become one of the first members of Art of Movement (AOM). After his mother noticed his passion for dance, she suggested that Jay audition at JYP Entertainment. In 2005, he went to Korea to learn the language and improve his skills, eventually completing his education at Dankook University.

Park first appeared in a documentary-style reality show entitled “Hot Blood Men”. He finished in the top spot, and became the leader of the group 2PM. In September 2008 they released their first song “10 Out of 10”, and it led to the mini-album “Hottest Time of the Day”. He also worked with Yeeun from the Wonder Girls on the original soundtrack of the television show “Conspiracy in the Court”. Jay would continue making stage performances with the band and would find himself as a regular cast member of several programs including “Star King” and “Nodaji”. His net worth ws now well established.

In 2009, Korean media discovered Park’s old MySpace account which had made negative comments about the country. This sparked an outrage and many fans demanded that he step down from the group. Despite JYP Entertainment defending him, he stepped down and decided to go back to the United States; 2PM would continue with the remaining six members, and they released an album entitled “1:59PM” as a tribute to Park, hoping that he would return to the group someday.

Eventually South Korea changed their perspective on Jay, especially since the comments on his MySpace account were heavily mistranslated. He was being set-up to return to 2PM, but JYP suddenly terminated his contract, sparking a boycott on 2PM products. Protests for his return took place, and he would then start his own YouTube channel entitled jayparkaom. His first upload went viral and reached over two million views within 24 hours, and the song would reach the top of various music sites. He would continue to release covers and songs that found success in Korea, and also make regular appearances with Art of Movement, mostly performing on stage. His popularity and net worth continued to increase, as he was also getting endorsements from several companies.

During the filming of the movie “Hype Nation”, he returned to South Korea and drew a very large crowd. He then signed with SidusHQ and started to work on albums, collaborations and films, winning numerous awards leading to the release of the mini-album “Take a Deeper Look”. His albums started to chart internationally to, and Jay would soon travel to the United States to perform again. He also started to compose songs for other artists, working with U-KISS, Tiny-G, and Younha. He then released his first full-length album entitled “New Breed”, and became featured in magazines including Men’s Health Korea. After numerous projects, he was chosen as a dance master for the television show “Dancing 9” which he would win, and afterwards released his second full-length album “Evolution”.

For his personal life, it is known that Jay struggled during his first few years in Korea and almost decided to quit his pursuit of an entertainment career. There is no published information on his private life.
