Who is Jared Keeso?

Jared Keeso was born in Listowel, Ontario, Canada, on 1 July 1984 – his zodiac sign is Cancer, and he holds Canadian nationality. He’s an actor, film writer and producer, who has appeared in close to 50 movies and TV series, while he’s perhaps known best for his portrayal of the lead character Wayne, in the critically acclaimed comedy series “Letterkenny”. Jared also created the show, together with Jacob Tierney, and it also stars Nathan Dales and Michelle Mylett, and follows the people who are living in a small town; the series has been airing since 2016, and has won 14 of the 49 awards for which it’s been nominated.

Early life and education

Jared was raised in Listowel alongside his brother Alan and sister Abigail, by their parents Richard and Anne Keeso. The family owned the Keeso Sawmill Company, founded back in 1987, and Jared spent a couple of years working there; the sawmill was destroyed in a fire on 9 September 2018.

He grew up being interested in playing hockey, which is the most popular sport in Canada; Jared played junior hockey together with his friends, and competed in the Western Ohio Ontario Hockey League (WOHL) with the Strathroy Rockets. He attended a local high school, and upon matriculating in 2002 he didn’t enroll at college, but chose to pursue an acting career.

Roles in TV series

He made his debut TV series appearance with his portrayal of Nate Pratt, in the 2004 episodes “Façade” and “Devoted” of the romantic adventure drama “Smallville”, while the following years saw him appear in an episode of a couple of popular series, including the romantic comedy drama “Life as We Know It”, the science fiction mystery drama “The 4400”, and the fantasy horror drama “Supernatural”.

In 2006 and ‘07, Jared starred as Luke in the family action adventure “Monster Warriors”, created by Wilson Coneybeare, and which also starred Lara Amersey and Mandy Butcher.

It follows four teenagers who are protecting their city from the movie director Klaus Von Steinhauer, who has the ability to bring his movie monsters to life. Jared was then cast to appear in the 2008 episode “Suspicious Minds” of the science fiction mystery drama “ReGenesis”, and the 2009 pilot episode of the action science fiction drama “Caprica”. In 2008 and ‘09, he starred as Rob Chambers in the drama “The Guard”, which follows the lives of several Canadian Coast Guards, and which won two of the 16 awards for which it was nominated.

The first half of the 2010s saw Jared play supporting characters in a couple of popular series, such as the mystery comedy drama “Psych”, the comedy drama “Hellcats”, and the action adventure drama “Falling Skies”.

Jared made his debut film appearance with his portrayal of Bartender in the 2004 family comedy “Eve’s Christmas”, and a couple of his following roles were in 2006, in the mystery crime drama “Shock to the System”, and the action drama “Firestorm: Last Stand at Yellowstone”, followed in 2007 by the fantasy horror drama “White Noise 2: The Light”.

What is perhaps his most notable performance in the 2000s was his portrayal of Dustin in the 2009 romantic comedy “I Love You, Beth Cooper”, directed by Chris Columbus, and which starred Hayden Penettiere, Paul Rust and Jack Carpenter. It follows a valedictorian who has expressed his love for Beth Cooper during his graduation speech; the movie won one of the two awards for which it was nominated.

Jared played a supporting character in the 2010 comedy drama “A Beginner’s Guide to Endings”, and played Simon in the 2012 crime drama “Charlie”; the year 2013 saw him appear in both the romantic comedy “Nearlyweds” and the action thriller “The Marine 3: Homefront”.

Also in 2013, Jared played Rico in the science fiction action drama “Elysium”, written and directed by Neill Blomkamp, and which starred Matt Damon, Jodie Foster and Sharlto Copley. Set in the year 2154, the movie follows a man who’s trying to change the way in which people are divided between the wealthy and the poor, with the former living on a space station, and the latter living on ruined Earth; the movie won one of the 11 awards for which it was nominated.

Jared then appeared in a couple of hit movies, including the 2014 science fiction action adventure “Godzilla”, and the 2018 drama “The Death & Life of John F. Donovan”, which is also his most recent film role.

Jared’s highly secretive when it comes to sharing details of his love life with his fans, but it’s still widely known that he’s today a married man.

He exchanged vows with Magali Brunelle on 4 July 2018, in a private ceremony attended by only the closest of their friends and family members; Magali is a Canadian lawyer from Quebec, and prefers to stay away from the media’s attention.

Jared and Magali don’t have children together, and this is believed to be because they both want to focus on their careers, however, there also some who claim that perhaps one of the two could be infertile.

Jared hasn’t spoken of any other women whom he has perhaps been with, so as of January 2022, he’s married to Magali Brunelle, and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and other interests

Jared is a fan of tattoos, and has a logo of his family’s company ‘J. H. Keeso’ tattooed on his right bicep. As a huge lover of animals, he has his pet dog’s head tattooed on his left bicep, and has a couple of other tattoos inked on various parts of his body.

He’s into travelling, and has been to many Canadian cities and a couple of US states, mostly to shoot for his movies and TV series. Jared has also been to a couple of European countries, and his dream travel destination is London in England.

He’s physically quite active, and has five to six training sessions at the gym every week, thus his muscular body.

Jared has his own favorite actors and actresses, some of whom are Vin Diesel, Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, and Angelina Jolie, while a couple of his favorite movies include the franchise “Fast and Furious”, “Jumanji” and “Lara Croft: Tomb Raider – The Cradle of Life”.
