Who is Patrick Wayne?
Patrick John Morrison, known better by his professional name Patrick Wayne, was born in Los Angeles, California USA, on 15 July 1939 – his zodiac sign is Cancer, and he holds American nationality. He’s a former actor, having retired in 1997 after appearing in 75 movies and TV series, perhaps still remembered best for his portrayal of the supporting character Lieutenant Greenhill in the 1956 adventure western drama “The Searchers”, directed by John Ford, and which starred his father John Wayne, Jeffrey Hunter and Vera Miles. It follows a Civil War veteran who’s trying to rescue his niece who’s been kidnapped by the Comanches, and the movie won three of the six awards for which it was nominated.
Early life and education
Patrick was raised alongside his three siblings in Los Angeles, by their father John = birth name Marion Morrison – who was a famous actor mainly known for his roles in western movies, and their mother Josephine Alicia Saenz who was a housewife. Josephine was John’s first wife; he married Mexican actress Esperanza Baur Diaz in 1946, and their divorce was finalized in 1954. In the same year, John married his third wife, Peruvian actress Pilar Pallete, and they had three children together. John died from stomach cancer on 11 June 1979, aged 72.
Patrick became interested in acting at a very early age, looking up to his father who had already made a name for himself in the film industry. Patrick was 11 when he made his debut film appearance, playing Boy in the 1950 romantic western “Rio Grande”, which starred his father, Maureen O’Hara and Ben Johnson; he was paid $10 for his part. A couple of his following roles were in the 1952 romantic comedy film “The Quiet Man”, the 1953 western comedy movie “The Sun Shines Bright” and the 1955 biographical comedy film “The Long Gray Line”.
Patrick then went on to act throughout his entire education, but without neglecting his studies. Upon matriculating from a local high school in 1957, he enrolled at Loyola Marymount University, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in 1961; Patrick was a member of the fraternity Alpha Delta Gamma.

In 1960, Patrick played Captain James Butler Bonham in the historical adventure drama “The Alamo”, directed by his father, who also starred in it,alongside Richard Widmark and Laurence Harvey. It follows a handful of soldiers as they’re trying to fight off a large Mexican army threatening to maintain of what became Texas in 1836; the movie won eight awards, including an Oscar for Best Sound, while it was nominated for eight other awards.
A couple of Patrick’s other notable performances in the ‘60s were in the 1963 romantic adventure comedy “Donovan’s Reef”, the 1964 historical western drama “Cheyenne Autumn”, and the 1968 war drama “The Green Berets”.
What marked the ‘70s for him was perhaps his portrayal of the lead character Sinbad in the action family adventure “Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger”, directed by Sam Wanamaker, and which also starred Jane Seymour and Taryn Power. It follows Sinbad as he’s taking a cursed prince to a mysterious island, while they’re constantly being attacked by a witch; the movie won one of the five awards for which it was nominated.
Subsequently, Patrick appeared in only a couple of movies – three of his final film roles were in the 1989 mystery crime comedy “Her Alibi”, the 1989 action drama “Chill Factor”, and the 1997 action adventure “Deep Cover”.
Roles in TV series
He made his debut TV series appearance in the 1955 episode “Rookie of the Year” of the romantic comedy drama “Screen Directors Playhouse”, while a couple of his following roles were in the 1958 episode “Teenage Idol” of the comedy “Mr. Adams and Eve”, the 1960 episode “Black Sheep” of the hit western “Have Gun – Will Travel” and the 1962 episode “Flashing Spikes” of the drama “Alcoa Premiere”.
In 1966 and 1967, Patrick starred as Howdy Lewis in all the 17 episodes of the western drama “The Rounders”, created by Marion Hargrove, and which also starred Ron Hayes and Chill Wills. It follows Texas cowboys Ben Jones and Howdy Lewis who owe money to the second wealthiest man in the state, and are doing whatever he wants as a way to repay the debt.

Patrick’s following notable performance was his portrayal of Lew Armitage in the 1979 comedy drama “Shirley”, which starred Shirley Jones and Peter Barton, and follows a widow who’s moved with her three children from a big city to a small town.
Then the ‘80s saw Patrick appear in an episode or two of various series, such as the action crime adventure “Charlie’s Angels”, the comedy drama “Lottery!”, and the mystery crime drama “Matt Houston”.
His portrayal of Harmon Lange in the 1997 episode “Pumped Up” of the mystery crime drama “Silk Stalkings” marked his final TV series role.

Patrick’s married twice, and has four children. He exchanged vows with his first wife Margaret Ann ‘Peggy’ Hunt on 11 December 1965, in a large ceremony attended by many of their friends and family members;, but their divorce was finalized on 1 September 1978.
Patrick married his second wife, Misha Anderson on 8 May 1999; the two met at the Sherwood Country Club, at their mutual friend’s daughter’s wedding, and they’ve been together to this day.
Patrick hasn’t mentioned any other women whom he’s perhaps been with, and as of July 2022, he’s married to his second wife Misha Anderson, and has four children.

Patrick’s always been a family man, and when offered the lead role in the 1978 movie “Superman”, he refused so that he could spend time with his father who was battling cancer.
Patrick was passionate about travelling during his career, and it had taken him all around the world. He’s revealed that he understood how privileged he was when he was a child, compared to other children, as he was able to meet politicians and presidents, and was treated differently, all because he was the son of John Wayne.
He’s been a philanthropist since the launch of his career, and Patrick became the chairman of John Wayne Cancer Institute in 2003.
