Lydia Night is a musician and actress, perhaps best known as the lead vocalist and rhythmic guitarist of the rock/punk band “The Regrettes” from California. She is also a former member of pop/rock bands such as Little Independent Loving Artists (“LILA”) and “Pretty Little Demons”. She spent most of her life in New Orleans alongside her younger brother, and at a very young age developed an interest in music, especially rock, and often performed at her father’s nightclub in New Orleans. At the age of six, she relocated with her family to Santa Monica, California, and they later moved to Los Angeles.
When she was seven years old, she joined the band entitled “LILA”, which mostly performed at school events and music shops. She continued to harbor her talent and interest in music during her formative years.
Regarding her education, she attended Grant Arts High School in Los Angeles, from which she matriculated in 2018, then chose to focus on pursuing a career as a musician, rather than to follow an academic path.

In 2012, Lydia and Marlhy Murphy, actress, musician and social media star, founded the pop-rock duo “Pretty Little Demons”. The following year, they performed at the Southwest festival, the youngest musicians performing at the festival. Lydia’s extraordinary talent and daring were noticed by the A-list actor Ryan Gosling, who is also a member of the rock duo “Dead Man’s Bones” with Zach Shields. Ryan, who usually performs under the alias Baby Goose, invited Lydia to join his band, however, she declined the offer.
In 2013 the girls began recording their first EP – “Flowers” – which was released during the same year, followed in 2014 by their debut studio album “Unknown Species”.
The following year, the girls decided to change the name of the bend to “The Regrettes”; they released their second EP “Hey” with four tracks, and the music video entitled “Hey Now”, which counts over 3.3 million views on YouTube.
After Marlhy left the duo in 2016, Lydia decided to hire some musicians, namely members of the then- Genessa band, Max Morano, Sage Chavis, and Genessa Gariano, forming a fully-fledged band.
In 2017, the band released the new album “Feel Your Feelings Fool”, followed by their EP “Attention Seeker”. In 2018, she collaborated with the musician and singer Gerard Way for the track “Dasher”, then the following year, the band released their second album, “How Do You Love”, which was posted to the band’s YouTube channel, which currently counts over 150,000 subscribers with over 30 million views.

Regarding her dating history, she was previously in a relationship with the six-years senior member of the punk/rock band SWMRS, Joey Armstrong; they broke-up in 2017.
Since 2018 she has been in a relationship with the actor Dylan Minnette, perhaps best recognized for his role as Clay Jensen in the popular Netflix series “13 Reasons Why”. They often share photos of their travels on their Instagram accounts.
Scandals and Controversy
In 2020, Lydia accused her ex-boyfriend Joey Armstrong of sexual and emotional abuse during their two-year-long relationship. A couple of days before she revealed her traumatic experience to the public, the record company Burger Records, which distributed cassettes of the SWMRS album, issued a public statement about accusations made against several band members signed to the label. The statement read: “Several stories have been brought to our attention about some Burger artists engaging in the grooming of underage girls for sex, relationships built on power imbalance”, with a photo that read “ZERO TOLERANCE.”
Following this statement, the official band site for SWMRS also posted a statement on Instagram, in which they acknowledged the issues, and condemned those who engage in sexual misconduct and abuse of minors.
Revolted by their statement, which in her opinion was hypocritical, Lydia wrote: ”I was in a relationship with Joey that started when I was 16 and ended right before my 18th birthday. For so long I viewed it just as being toxic; now I know that what I actually experienced was emotional abuse and sexual coercion by someone in a position of power over me.”
