Who is Anupam Tripathi?
Indian actor Anupam Tripathi, who’s today based in South Korea, was born in New Delhi, India on 2 November 1988, so Scorpio’s his zodiac sign. He’s appeared in 14 movies and TV series, and is perhaps known best for playing Sullivan’s Assistant in the 2021 action adventure movie “Space Sweepers”, which Sung-hee Jo wrote and directed, and which starred Jim Seon-kyu, Kim Tae-ri and Song Joong-ki. Set in 2092, the movie follows the crew of The Victory, a space junk collector ship, and it won seven of its 23 award nominations.
Early life and education
Anupam was raised in New Delhi by his parents about whom he doesn’t usually speak in public, but he’s revealed that his father passed away in 2017; he hasn’t spoken of having siblings, and so is believed to be an only child.
Anupam studied at a local high school in New Delhi, and became interested in acting after being cast to play a slave in the school’s production of “Spartacus”. He matriculated in 2006, and then moved to South Korea, where he attended the Korea National University of Arts, while simultaneously studying acting under Shahi Anwar; he graduated with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2010.
Anupam should be graduating with a Master’s degree from the Korea National University of Arts in 2023.
Roles in movies
Anupam’s debut film role was playing Sri Lankan Man in the critically acclaimed 2014 war movie “Ode to My Father”, written and directed by JK Youn, and which starred Hwang Jung-min, Yunjin Kim and Dal-su Oh. Set during the Korean War, the movie follows a boy who’s made a promise to his family, and it won 23 of its 43 award nominations.
The following year saw Anupam play Charles in the mystery science fiction action “The Phone”, written and directed by Kim Bong-Joo, and which starred Sung-Woo Bae, Son Hyeon-ju and Kwon Hyuk-bum. It follows a man who’s found a way to phone his wife back in the past, and is now trying to prevent her from being murdered; the movie won a Golden Cinematography Award for Best Actress (Uhm Ji-won).

Anupam could then have been seen appearing in the action crime thriller “Asura” and the action crime comedy “Luck-Key” both in 2016, and the 2017 crime drama “Heart Blackened”.
In 2019, he played Arab Subordinate 3 in the action crime comedy “Miss & Mrs Cops”, written and directed by Jung Da-Won, and which starred Ra Mi-ran, Lee Song-Kyoung and Yoon Sang-Hyun. The movie follows veteran police officer Mi-Young who’s just been teamed up with detective Ji-Hye – the film was nominated for only a single award.
Anupam’s since appeared in only three movies: the above mentioned “Space Sweepers”, the action adventure “The 8th Night” and the crime mystery “Vanishing”, all released in 2021.
Roles in TV series
Anupam’s debut TV series role was playing Indian Worker in two episodes of the 2016 action comedy “Descendants of the Sun”, which starred Song Joong-ki, Song Hye-Kyo and Jin Goo, and follows a surgeon who’s fallen in love with a special forces officer; the series won 19 of its 37 award nominations.
Anupam portrayed a supporting character in a 2017 episode of the romantic comedy “Byeonhyekui Sarang”, and he played Clinic Patient in a 2018 episode of the romantic drama “Just Between Lovers”.
In 2019, he appeared in an episode of the action fantasy “Arthdal Chronicles”, which starred Song Joong-ki, Kim Ji-Won and Jang Dong-Gun, and follows the people living in the virtual land of Arth; the series won an Asia Artist Grand Prize.

Anupam’s had only one other TV series role: he starred as Ali Abdul in the critically acclaimed 2021 action mystery “Squid Game”, which also starred Lee Jung-jae, Park Hae-soo and Hoyeon, and follows a group of people who’ve been invited to compete in a strange game for a huge amount of money, but they don’t know that only one of them will survive the game; the series won 52 of its 131 award nominations.
Other credits
Anupam made a guest appearance in a 2021 episode of the talk-show “Surreal Entertainment”.
He was featured in the 2022 TV special “Tudum: A Netflix Global Fan Event”.
Awards and nominations
Anupam and his colleagues were nominated for a 2022 Screen Actors Guild Award for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series, for “Squid Game”.

Anupam hasn’t spoken about his love life in public, and some of his fans believe him to be gay.
India’s amongst the countries with the fewest number of people identifying as homosexual or bisexual, however, some of Anupam’s fans believe that the reason why he hasn’t spoken of the women whom he’s dated is because he’s attracted to men. Some also believe that he moved to South Korea after having fallen for a Korean man, but this hasn’t been addressed by Anupam.
He seems to be unattached as of February 2023, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Anupam enjoys learning languages, and has revealed that it took him less than two years to become fluent in Korean; he’s also fluent in Hindi and English.
He enjoys being active on Instagram, and has posted close to 400 pictures onto the social media network, while he’s today followed by nearly three million people; most of his pictures feature him during his everyday life.
Anupam’s been to a number of cities around the world, and has recently spent a couple of days in London, England.
He’s donated money to a number of charity organizations, especially those working with underprivileged children.
Anupam loves animals, and some of his favorites are monkeys, pandas and sheep.
