Hamisa Hassan Mobetto was born on 10 December 1994, in Mwanza, Tanzania; she’s the daughter of Shufaa Lutigunga, but she hasn’t shared details about her father and siblings. Raised in a Muslim household, Hamisa is proud of her humble beginnings, and of her Islamic origins.

Modeling Career
Before making a name for herself in music, Hamisa gained prestige as a model. At 17 years old, she participated in the Miss Indian Ocean 2011 beauty pageant, and was 2nd runner up in the competition. The same year, she competed for Miss Tanzania, however, she didn’t have any major success. Nevertheless, she continued to take part in beauty pageants, and in 2012 she participated in Miss University Africa, finishing in the top 10.
She began campaigning for various fashion brands, and launched her Instagram page, gradually becoming more popular, working with fashion brands and launching her own, Mobetto Styles.
Rise to Prominence
Hamisa saw her meteoric rise to stardom in 2017, when she was nominated for the People’s Choice Award, and Super Mum at the Starqt International Awards. At the time, she was dating Tanzanian rapper Diamond Platinumz, and appeared in the video for his hit single “Salome”.
Hamisa won Female Stylish of the Year the following year at the Swahili Fashion Week Awards; moreover, she hosted the Miss Tanzania Beauty pageant, then earned a nomination for Best East African Woman Entrepreneur at the BEFFTA Awards, and in December 2020, she was named the Best Female Digital Model of the Year at the Tanzania Digital Awards.
