Hulk Hogan started his professional wrestling career in 1977. He initially competed for Championship Wrestling from Florida (CWF) and won his first professional wrestling championship at the 1979 NWA Southeastern Heavyweight Championship (Northern Division). He gained enormous international popularity when in 1983 he joined World Wrestling Federation (WWF, now WWE). During the 1980s professional wrestling boom, he headlined eight of the first nine editions of WrestleMania. During his initial run, Hulk Hogan won five WWF Championship titles, and his first reign holds the record for the second-longest. He is also the first wrestler to win two Royal Rumble matches consecutively, in 1990 and 1991.
