Eric grew up in his hometown, where he went to Canton McKinley High School and started playing basketball, becoming one of the top players in his class, as he was named McKinley High School’s MVP for three consecutive years.
Eric then enrolled at Michigan State University, where he continued to play basketball, and was one of the leaders of his team, which reached the 1995 NCAA Tournament, although they were eliminated in the first round by the Webber State University. Following his graduation, Eric declared for the 1995 NBA Draft, and was selected as the 43rd overall pick by the Milwaukee Bucks, however, he was traded to the Seattle SuperSonics, where he stayed for three years before he was traded to the Philadelphia 76ers. While playing for the SuperSonics, Eric`s numbers weren`t impressive, as he played in only 127 games, and had average of 2.5 points and 1.9 assists. Fortunately in Philadelphia his role increased, and so did his numbers; he played for the 76ers from 1997 until 2004, and had his best season in 2002-2003, when he averaged 12.9 points, 6.6 assists and 3.7 rebounds in the 82 games he played. In his second season with the Cavs, Eric started every one of the 82 regular season games, but his numbers remained low, as he averaged only 4.8 points, 4.2 assists and 2.4 rebounds in 28.7 minutes. The following season he played in 22 games, before injuries condemned his career to an end. He had several problems with his left knee, and as a result he didn`t play a single game in the 2008-2009 season, and eventually decided to retire. He still stayed a part of the team, as the assistant coach to head coach Mike Brown, and after 2008-2009 season also started working as an analyst for the NBA TV.
He stayed interested in coaching, and from 2012 until 2014 worked as director of player development for the Southern Methodist University`s basketball team, and most recently he was appointed as assistant coach for the Florida Atlantic, which has only increased his net worth.
Regarding his personal life, Eric was married to DeShawn Snow from 1997 until 2014; the couple had three children before they divorced.
