Before starting a professional wrestling career, Eric worked numerous jobs including being a kickboxer, a butcher, and a veterinary assistant. His wrestling career under the American Wrestling Association took-off, where he would eventually become an on-air interviewer. He stayed with the company until it folded and then tried his hand at becoming an announcer for the World Wrestling Federation (WWF), but was unsuccessful. In 1991, he became an announcer of WCW, and after two years would become an Executive Producer of the show. In 1994, he became the Executive Vice-President, helping get funding from Turner executives and moved production to Disney-MGM Studios. He would be responsible in hiring Hulk Hogan and for increasing the company’s pay-per-view statistics. With that, WCW started to rise and compete with other wrestling brands, and Bischoff ascended to become President of the company.

During the peak of WCW, they had secured big WWF names such as Scott Hall aka “Razor Ramon” and Kevin Nash aka “Diesel”. These two along with Hulk Hogan would form the “New World Order” which would be responsible in the company overtaking WWF as the number one wrestling promotion. Eric would have a pivotal role in creating a television character that would become the manager of nWo. With WWF rebranding to “WWF Attitude” and introducing big wrestling stars such as The Rock, WCW’s ratings started to decline. They were still maintaining competition but would then start losing money in 1995. In 1999, after WCW lost a lot of money, Bischoff was replaced by Harvey Schiller. He would serve the company until 2000 when WWF purchased WCW.

With WWF now branded as WWE, Eric became the general manager of their show “Raw”, and stayed mainly in an on-screen role. Some of his contributions to the company include the Elimination Chamber match and the “Raw Roulette”; he also had feuds with John Cena, Stone Cold, Steve Austin and Paul Heyman, then after being fired as General Manager, he appeared in WWE a year later to promote his book “Controversy Creates Ca$h” which would become a New York Times best seller. After making sporadic appearances in the WWE from 2006-2007, he would then sign with Total Nonstop Action Wrestling (TNA) alongside Hulk Hogan. He would become the executive producer of TNA, becoming a part of the company for numerous story lines until October 2013, when he was forced to sit out the rest of his contract. He would then sue TNA for unpaid salary.

Aside from wrestling, Eric has been involved in television production work, establishing his own company Bischoff-Hervey Entertainment. He would help produce several reality television shows including “Girls Gone Wild pay-per-view”, “Confessions of a Teen Idol”, and “Hulk Hogan’s Celebrity Championship Wrestling”. He also did video game production, acquiring MX Digital and then launched a few games via Facebook.

For his personal life, it is known that Eric is married to Loree and they have two children, one of whom would become a professional wrestler.
