Who is Emily Coutts?

Emily Coutts was born in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, on 4 July 1989 – her zodiac sign is Cancer, and she holds Canadian nationality. She’s an actress, film writer and producer, with close to 30 acting credits to her name, while she’s perhaps known best for her portrayal of Lieutenant Keyla Detmer in the critically acclaimed action adventure series “Star Trek: Discovery”. It was created by Bryan Fuller and Alex Kurtzman, stars Sonequa Martin-Green, Doug James and Anthon Rapp, and follows the space ship Discovery, as it’s exploring the universe; the series has been airing since 2017, and has won 15 awards, including a Primetime Emmy, while it has been nominated for 58 other awards.

Early life and education

Emily was raised in Toronto by her parents, about whom nothing’s known, as she respects their privacy; because she hasn’t mentioned having any siblings, she’s believed to be an only child.

She became interested in acting at a very early age, and started practicing it upon enrolling at a local high school in Toronto; Emily was a member of the school’s drama club, and appeared in nearly all the plays performed at the school, as well as a couple performed at a local theatre. It follows the woman Parisa who has been kidnapped and taken to an isolated cabin, and has realized that her husband won’t be paying the $5 million ransom.

In 2014, she starred as Mary in the short drama “Bullet-Headed”, while a couple of her following roles were in the 2014 romantic family drama “Best Christmas Party Ever”, the 2015 comedy drama “Barn Wedding”, and the  mystery horror drama “Crimson Peak” also in 2015, which won six of the 48 awards for which it was nominated.

Emily made her debut TV series appearance in 2012, with portrayal of Paul F. Tompkins Show Receptionist in the episode “Vacancy” of the drama “The L. A. Complex”, and the following years saw her make a guest appearance in single episodes of various series, such as the action crime drama “The Transporter”, the romantic family drama “The Next Step”, and the drama “The Girlfriend Experience”.
