Who is Ellise Chappell?
Ellise Chappell was born in Warwickshire, England, on 21 March 1992 – her zodiac sign is Aries, and she holds British nationality. She’s an actress, so far with eight credits to her name, perhaps known best for her portrayal of Lucy in the 2019 musical fantasy comedy movie “Yesterday”. It was directed by Danny Boyle, starred Himesh Patel, Lily James and Sophia Di Martino, and follows a struggling musician who has awoken in an alternate reality, and has found out that he’s the only person who knows songs by The Beatles; the movie won one of the 20 awards for which it was nominated.

Early life and education
Ellise was raised in Warwickshire alongside her older brother, by their father who’s the owner of a creative agency, and their mother who’s an artist; Ellise’s brother has become a video choreographer.
She became interested in acting while attending The King’s High School for Girls, as she was a member of the school’s drama club, and appeared in many plays performed there, as well as in a couple at a local theatre. Ellise was interested in various other activities during her four years there, including dancing, creative writing and playing sports. Upon matriculating in 2010, she sent her application to Royal Academy of Dramatic Art, as well as to Guildhall School of Music and Drama, but wasn’t accepted at either.
Ellise thus enrolled at the University of Sheffield to study English literature, but moved to the University of Exeter after two years, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 2014. Ellise then attended an acting course in London for nine months, before becoming a member of the National Youth Theatre, appearing in plays performed in London’s West End.
Roles in TV series
In 2016, Ellise was cast to play Wendy Roberts in the episodes “Case 3, Part 1” and “Case 3, Part 2” of the critically acclaimed mystery crime drama “New Blood”, created by Anthony Horowitz, and which starred Mark Strepan, Ben Tavassoli and Mark Addy. It follows the detectives Rash and Stefan, who are working on two apparently unrelated cases, but who team up after learning that there might actually be a connection.
Ellise gained recognition in 2017, when she was cast to play Morwenna Carne in the historical romantic drama “Poldark”, created by Debbie Horsfield, and which starred Aidan Turner, Eleanor Tomlinson and Jack Farthing. It follows the life of Ross Poldark, who has returned home after the end of the American Revolutionary War, and has launched her own business, as well as fallen in love. The series aired from 2015 to 2019, and won six of the 37 awards for which it was nominated.
In 2020, Ellise played Clara Simms, in the episode “Inheritance” of the popular crime drama “Miss Scarlet and the Duke”; her only other role in TV series to date has been her portrayal of Mona in six episodes of the mystery crime drama “Young Wallander”.
Created by Ben Harris, it stars Adam Palsson, Yasen Atour and Leanne Best, and follows the new police officer Kurt Wallander, who has just begun working on his first case; the series has been airing since 2020.
Roles in movies
Ellise made her debut film appearance with her portrayal of Jennifer Strange in the 2016 fantasy comedy “The Last Dragonslayer”, directed by Jamie Magnus Stone, and which starred Adeel Akhtar, Matt Berry and Danielle Bjelic. Set in a fantasy world, the film follows a teenage girl who has learned that her destiny is to become a dragonslayer; the film was nominated for two awards.
In 2019, we saw Ellise play the main character Katy, in the short drama “My Boy”, written and directed by Charlotte Regan, and which also starred Sam Spruell.
It follows Daniel who’s looking for his son by calling his closest friends and family members; it won one of the two awards for which it was nominated.
Ellise’s only other film role was in the 2020 short romantic drama “Reappear”, written and directed by Tommy Clarke, and in which she starred alongside Portia Leslie and Belinda Stewart-Wilson. It follows a son who’s planning to recreate a picture of his deceased father, believing that this will make his mother happy; the movie won Freddie Wise a SOFIE Award for Best Actor in a Short Film, at The Short Film Awards.

In 2019, Ellise made guest appearances in an episode of the talk-shows “Lorraine” and “The Sara Cox Show”.

Ellise is highly secretive when it comes to her love life, but has still allowed her fans to have a glimpse into it. She’s today in a relationship with Yuan, a professional photographer who’s half-Chinese. Ellise has uploaded many pictures featuring them together onto her Instagram account, and the two have also been spotted spending time together on a number of occasions. They have apparently been together for over a year now.
There are also rumors circulating the internet claiming that Ellise is bisexual, while a fan has also claimed to have seen her kissing a female friend at a club in London, however, no evidence has been provided to support these claims, nor has Ellise commented on this.
As of September 2021, she’s in a relationship with Yuan, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Ellise enjoys spending her spare time in nature, and her Instagram account is filled with pictures taken at various natural locations; she mostly enjoys being close to bodies of water, or deep into the woods.
She’s a huge fan of Studio Ghibli animated movies, with her favorite being “Princess Mononoke”, while she also enjoys watching “Spirited Away”, “Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind” and “Howl’s Moving Castle”.
Ellise likes to watch Hollywood movies as well – her favorite actor and actress are Leonardo DiCaprio and Anne Hathaway, while a couple of her favorite films are “Catch Me If You Can”, “Shutter Island” and “One Day”.
