Edgerton Hartwell spent his childhood in his hometown, and attended Cheyenne High School from which he matriculated in 1996. After that, he started playing college football at the University of Wisconsin, and then at Western Illinois University.

Hartwell’s professional playing career began when he was selected in the 2001 NBA Draft in the fourth round as the 126th overall pick by the Baltimore Ravens, so he signed a rookie contract, which marked the beginning of his net worth. He stayed with the team until 2004, and during his time with the Ravens, he was one of the few players who never missed a game. He finished his period with the team having 337 tackles, six sacks and one interception.

Right after that, Hartwell became a free agent and soon began to play for the Atlanta Falcons, signing a contract worth $26.25 million for the next six years, which added a considerable amount to his net worth. However, after spending two injury-plagued seasons with them, he was released in 2007. With the Falcons, he appeared in just 13 games, having 63 tackles and one sack in total.

In the following year, Hartwell signed with the Cincinnati Bengals. However, he was released before the season, and so he didn’t play football for the rest of the season.

The 2008 season, he was supposed to spend it with the Oakland Raiders, but he was again released when they signed another player.

In 2010 he started playing in the less known football organization, The United Football League (UFL), being drafted to play for the Las Vegas Locomotives. He won the UFL champion trophy with them, however, the league shut down in 2012, and this ended his football career.

When it comes to speak about his personal life, Edgerton Hartwell married reality television star Lisa Wu-Hartwell in 2005, and he appeared together with her in the first and second season of Bravo TV’s show “The Real Housewifes of Atlanta”. The couple had a son, but divorced in 2011, after suffering financial difficulties. He married actress Keshia Knight Pulliam on 1 January 2016, but they divorced in the same year, after having a daughter.
