Edgar made his debut with the album entitled ‘’Entrance’’; almost all of the songs were written by him and his brother Johnny, who was also a musician, and was critically acclaimed and as of this day holds a score of four and a half out of five stars on AllMusic. Michael B. Smith of the previously mentioned website calls it a ‘’ remarkable record filled with jazz, blues, and a little old-fashioned rock & roll’’. Following in the same manner, Edgar made a cover of ‘’Tobacco Road’’ and achieved success with that too, and was followed by two more albums, made in collaboration with White Trash, Edgar’s band. ‘’Edgar Winter’s White Trash’’ and ‘’They Only Come Out at Night’’ were released in 1971 and 1972 respectively, both praised by critics and the audience alike. As of 1972, White Trash gained three more members – Dan Hartman, Ronnie Montrose and Chuck Ruff, and the new cast created songs such as ‘’Frankenstein’’ and ‘’Free Ride’’, both taking the top spot on charts. Throughout the ‘70s, Winter continued releasing new music. As of 1973, he was the writer of an episode of ‘’In Concert’’. In 1974 he made ‘’Shock Treatment’’.

Winter went on to release another album, but then took a break from creating music, and in the meantime wrote an episode entitled ‘’Frankenstein’’ for ‘’The Simpsons’’. He made his comeback with ‘’Not a Kid Anymore’ in 1994, released by Thunderbolt UK. The album was evaluated as ‘’ a mix of musicianship and vocal prowess make for an excellent album’’ by the critics. Following in the same fashion, Edgar went on to release ‘’The Real Deal’’ in 1996 and made success with it as well. He continued working on new projects throughout the ‘90s, proving that he still had what it takes. Winter created ‘’Jazzin the Blues’’ in 2004, but the album didn’t meet the expectations.

As of his most recent projects, the album entitled ‘’Reach for It’’ was published by Charly Films record label. To date, Winter has released over 20 albums throughout his career; his music is often used in commercials and campaigns.
