Who is Joseph D. Reitman?
Joseph David Reitman was born in Brookline, Massachusetts USA, on 25 May 1968 – his zodiac sign is Gemini, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor, film writer, producer and director, with more than 110 acting credits to his name, while he’s perhaps known best for his portrayal of Very Bad Santa, in the critically acclaimed action crime comedy series “Happy!” It was created by Grant Morrison and Brian Taylor, starred Christopher Meloni, Ritchie Coster and Lili Mirojnick, and follows a hitman as he befriends his daughter’s imaginary friend; the series aired from 2017 to 2019, and was nominated for a Royal Television Society Craft and Design Award for Effects.

Early life and education
Joseph was raised in Brookline by his parents, about whom nothing’s known as he respects their privacy; as he hasn’t mentioned having any siblings, most people believe him to be an only child.
Joseph became interested in acting while attending a local high school, and was encouraged by his drama teacher, who saw his potential and cast him in lead roles in various school plays. Upon matriculating in 1986, Joseph enrolled at Pitzer College located in Claremont, California, and he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in theatre in 1990.
Roles in movies
Joseph made his debut film appearance in 1991, with his portrayal of a Shrike member, in the horror thriller “Blood Ties”; a couple of his following roles were in the 1994 comedy “Andrew Lackhappy”, the 1995 hit romantic comedy “Clueless”, and the 1995 short drama “Pool”.
He gained recognition in 1998, with his portrayal of Glen in the crime comedy “Clay Pigeons”, directed by David Dobkin, and which starred Joaquin Phoenix, Vince Vaughn and Janeane Garofalo. It tells the story of a woman whose husband killed himself after learning that she was cheating on him with Clay, while Clay has now begun seeing other women.
The following years saw Joseph appear in a couple of hit movies, such as the 2000 action adventure drama “The Perfect Storm”, which starred George Clooney and Mark Wahlberg, and the two comedies “American Pie 2” and “Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back” both in 2001.
In 2006, we saw him play Regulator 2, in the action crime comedy “Bandidas”, directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, and which starred Penelope Cruz, Salma Hayek and Steven Zahn in the film about two women who are robbing banks in Mexico. By the end of the 2000s, Joseph had appeared in a couple of other movies, such as the 2006 fantasy mystery drama “Lady in the Water”, and in 2009 the action crime thriller “Crank: High Voltage”, and the action science fiction thriller “Gamer”.
In 2016, we saw him play Matty (Floor Manager), in the mystery crime drama “Money Monster”, directed by Jodie Foster, and which starred George Clooney, Julia Roberts and Jack O’Connell. It follows the TV show host Lee Gates and the producer Patty, who have been taken hostage by an investor; the film was nominated for two awards. Three of Joseph’s most recent movie roles have been in 2020, in the action crime adventure “Archenemy”, the action “Break Even”, and the short comedy drama “Ghosted”.
He’s currently shooting for seven upcoming movies, including the mystery crime drama “The Cincinnati Spin”, the drama “The Final Hour”, and the drama “Samson”.

Joseph made his debut TV series appearance in 1993, with his portrayal of Tough Guy #1, in the episode “Family Affair” of the drama “South of Sunset”, and the remainder of the ‘90s saw him make a guest appearance in an episode of various series, such as the romantic drama “Beverly Hills, 90210”, the musical family comedy “California Dreams”, and the comedy “Hudson Street”.
He gained recognition in 2001, when he played Frankie in the popular comedy drama “Jack & Jill”, created by Randi Mayem Singer, which starred Ivan Sergei, Amanda Peet and Jaime Pressly, and follows the couple Jaqueline and David and their four friends.

In 2002, he wrote and directed the short comedy film “Survivin’ the Island”, and in 2007, he wrote and directed the short comedy movie “Leo”. His three other directing credits are 13 episodes of the comedy series “The Late Late Show with Craig Ferguson” between 2008 and 2011, the 2013 comedy series “Lying for a Living”, and the upcoming documentary film “Untitled Fetish Documentary”.
Joseph made his producing debut with the 2006 TV special “Annie Duke Takes on the World”, while a couple of his most notable works have been on 13 episodes of the mystery comedy game-show “Penn & Teller: Fool Us” in 2015, the 2019 thriller movie “Use Me”, and the 2020 short comedy film “Ghosted”.

Love life and relationships
Back in 2002, Joseph exchanged vows with the American actress and model Shannon Elizabeth Fadal, after the two had been dating for around two years. They separated in March 2005 for unknown reasons, but it’s widely believed that Shannon wanted to have children, while Joseph wanted to focus on his acting career, although this hasn’t been confirmed. Joseph and Elizabeth are still good friends today, and he’s managing her career as a stage actress; they are also running together their non-profit organization for animal rights, called Animal Avengers.

In 2006, Joseph announced that he was in a relationship with the American former poker player Annie Duke. They became engaged in 2010, but broke up two years later.
He hasn’t spoken of any other women whom he has perhaps been with, so as of August 2021, Joseph seems to be single, was once married, and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
Joseph’s an avid poker player, and has entered the World Series of Poker tournament four times, winning the $1 Million Guaranteed Tournament.
He’s a philanthropist, and has donated money to various charity organizations, mostly to those aiming to help underprivileged children and abandoned animals; Joseph has also played at various charity poker tournaments.
