Who is Bobby Moynihan?
American actor, screenwriter and comedian Bobby Moynihan was born in Eastchester, New York State USA, on 31 January 1977, making his zodiac sign Aquarius. He’s had roles in more than 150 movies and TV series, and is perhaps best known for recently playing Jayden Kwapis in the comedy series “Mr. Mayor”, created by Robert Carlock and Tina Fey, and which starred Ted Danson, Holly Hunter and Vella Lowell. The series follows a businessman who’s just become the mayor of Los Angeles, aired in 2021 and 2022, and won one of its six award nominations.
Education and early life
Bobby was raised in Eastchester an only child, by his father Robert and mother Irene Moynihan; he hasn’t spoken about his parents in public, because he respects their privacy, but it’s believed that his mother was a high school math teacher, and his father a bus driver.
Bobby became interested in comedy and acting while attending Eastchester High School, and often appeared in plays performed at the school. He matriculated in 1995, then enrolled at the University of Connecticut, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1999.
Bobby was then a member of the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre for nine years, and often performed with them in New York City.
Roles in TV series
Bobby’s debut TV series appearance was his playing of Doorman in the 1996 episode “Sniper: Part 1” of the mystery drama “Homicide: Life on the Street”, then he didn’t appear in any TV series or movies in the following three years, wanting to focus on studying.
The year 2004 heard him voice a character in an episode of the animated comedy “Jump Cuts”, and in 2008, Bobby played the lead character in the comedy “The Line”, which also starred Bill Hader, Joe Lo Truglio and Chris Gethard, and follows a group of people who are waiting in line for 11 days, wanting to be the first to see the new “FutureSpace” movie. Bobby could then have been seen playing and voicing characters in an episode of the comedy “College Humor Originals”, the short animated adventure “Chowder” (voice role), and the family comedy “The Electric Company”.
In 2012 and 2013, he played Brick in the comedy “The Side Car”, and the year 2014 heard him voice the lead character Chozen in the eponymous animated comedy, which Grant DeKernion created, and which also starred Hannibal Buress and Michael Pena Buress; it follows gay white rapper Chozen who’s just been released from jail. Bobby’s debut film appearance was his playing of Stretch in the 1999 crime drama “Nine the Hard Way”, while some of his following roles were in the 2002 comedy “Economics 101”, the 2006 short comedy “Other Music”, and the 2009 crime comedy “Mystery Team”.
The year 2009 saw him play Assistant in the popular romantic fantasy comedy “The Invention of Lying”, which Ricky Gervais wrote, directed and starred in; it follows an author who’s living in a world in which lying doesn’t exist – the film was nominated for a Peter Sellers Award for Comedy at the 2010 Evening Standard British Film Awards.
Bobby’s also known for his portrayal of Chuck in the 2012 fantasy thriller comedy “The Brass Teapot”, written and directed by Ramaa Mosley, and which starred Juno Temple, Michael Angarano and Alexis Bledel. It follows a couple who’ve discovered that their brass teapot makes money whenever they are hurt; the movie was nominated for two awards.

He was also nominated for a 2014 Naperville Independent Film Festival Award for Best Actor, for his performance in “Bread and Butter”, and a 2018 BTVA Television Voice Acting Award for Best Vocal Ensemble in a New Television Series, for his and his colleagues’ performance in “DuckTales”.
Love life and wife
Bobby hasn’t revealed a lot about his love life, but it’s still widely known that he’s today married and has a child. He exchanged vows with American Broadway actress Brynn O’Malley in August 2016, after close to 10 years of dating; Brynn’s appeared in nine movies and TV series, and is perhaps still best known for her playing of Liz Martin in the 2011 fantasy series “A Gifted Man”, which was nominated for four awards. It’s widely believed that Bobby and Brynn met in 2007, when they appeared together in a Broadway play, but this hasn’t been confirmed.
Brynn gave birth to her and Bobby’s daughter in July 2017, but they’ve chosen to keep the girl’s name a secret.
Bobby hasn’t mentioned other women whom he’s been with; he’s married to Brynn O’Malley as of November 2022, and they have a daughter together.
