Born Desmond Darice Clark on the 20th April 1977, in Bartow, Florida USA, he is a retired professional American Football player, who spent 12 seasons in the National Football League (NFL), playing as a tight end for the Denver Broncos (1999-2001), Miami Dolphins (2002), and Chicago Bears (2003-2010).
Have you ever wondered how rich Desmond Clark is, as of mid- 2017? According to authoritative sources, it has been estimated that Clark’s net worth is as high as $2 million, an amount earned largely through his successful career as a football player. After retirement he worked as a broadcaster, and serves as a financial adviser for Wayne Messmer & Associates, which have also improved his wealth.
Desmond Clark Net Worth $2 Million
Desmond went to Kathleen High School, located in Lakeland, Florida and while there he started playing football, and also baseball and basketball. He had a successful high school football career as he played several positions, including quarterback, free safety, and was also a return specialist. After high school matriculation, Desmond enrolled at Wake Forest University, where he continued his football career. He was used mostly as wide receiver, and posted great numbers, which eventually earned him the ACC all-time leader in receptions. He finished his college career with 216 receptions for 2834 yards and 20 touchdowns.
Desmond declared for the 1999 NFL Draft, and was selected as the 179th overall pick by the Denver Broncos. However he was deprived of his natural position and used as tight end, and unfortunately, he couldn’t compete with the much more experienced Byron Chamberlain, Dwayne Carswell, and especially Shannon Sharpe for a place in the starting line-up and as a result, he played in nine games only in his rookie season and didn’t post any notable appearances. His playing time increased in the two following years, but before the start of his fourth season with the Broncos, Desmond was waived by the franchise. He then signed a contract with the Miami Dolphins and played in 11 games, before he became a part of the Chicago Bears in 2003, for which he played until the end of his career in 2010. Slowly his numbers began to improve, and in 2005 he was made Pro-Bowl alternate, while in 2006 he helped his team to reach the Super Bowl, with 626 receiving yards and 6 touchdowns, although losing to the Indianapolis Colts. The following season was also successful for Desmond, and thanks to his great numbers he received a two-year contract extension, which only further increased his wealth. Unfortunately, from 2008 onwards, his role in the Bears’ offense began to decline with the arrival of offensive coordinator Mike Martz. In 2010 he played in five games only, and was placed on the inactive list. Though he did receive a contract extension in 2011, he was soon released, and so retired in September 2012.
Regarding his personal life, Desmond is married to Maria and the two have a son together. Back in 2015 the two were brought in following an argument at Vernon High, which their son attends.
They were charged with disorderly-conduct and battery. The two got into an altercation with school’s administration due to the racial bullying that was being committed on their son by his peers.
Desmond is also a well-known philanthropist; back in 2008 he started the 88 Wayz, a non-profit school-program that focuses on improving the lives of youth and young adults by helping them reach their full potential by special mentoring with spotlight on leadership skill development. For the time being, 88 Wayz is present in 12 schools in Polk Country and Chicago-area schools, but Desmond is looking to expand his program to new educational facilities.
