Della Reese Net Worth $3 Million

Della Reese is the daughter of Richard Thaddeus Early, who was a steelworker, and his wife, Nellie Mitchelle Early, who worked as a cook. Bright and talented, she has carried her love for music ever since she was six years old, when she began to sing in the local church. Beside that, she was also very interested in acting. In 1944, Della began directing the young people’s choir, and joined Mahalia Jackson’s gospel group. She attended Cass Technical High School, from which she matriculated at the age of 15 – meantime founding her own gospel group named the Meditation Singers – and then continued her education at Wayne State University; however, she was forced to quit education and music due to her mother’s death and father’s ill health.

Soon after, Della began performing in the local nightclubs, and her career really began when she signed a recording contract with Jubilee Records in 1953, for which label she recorded six albums and a number of singles, including “In The Still Of The Night”, “Time After Time”, “And That Reminds Me”, which was a Top Twenty Pop hit, increasing her net worth to a large degree. However, her big break came in 1959, when she released the single “Don’t You Know?” for RCA Records, which reached No. 2 on the Pop charts, and was rewarded with a gold disc by the RIAA. In her later career, Della released albums and songs such as “Someday (You’ll Want Me To Want You)”, “The Classic Della”, “Brilliance”, etc, adding steadily to her net worth.

Apart from her successful career as a singer, Della is also known as a host of her own talk show series entitled “Della” (1969-1970). Later, she focused on her acting career, appearing in a number of TV and film titles, all of which she is most recognized for her role in the TV series “Touched By An Angel” (1994-2003), adding more to her net worth.

Thanks to her accomplishments, Della has won several prestigious awards, including a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1994, and Image Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her work on the TV series “Touched By An Angel”.

Speaking about her personal life, Della Reese has been married to Franklin Thomas Lett, Jr. since 1983; they have three children. Previously, she was married to Vermont Taliaferro (1951-1958), and Leroy Gray (1959-1961). Della has type-2 diabetes, and is a spokeswoman for the American Diabetes Association. She is recognized for founding her own church named Understanding Principles for Better Living, and being a minister.
