Who is David Zepeda?

Almost none of us know in early years what we want to be when we grow up, however, David Zepeda knew that he had to use his good looks and rise to stardom in the entertainment industry. He is a model, singer, and actor, with over 30 acting credits to his name, and according to critics, he’s one of the best.

Early life, family, and education

Born David Anastasio Zepeda Quintero on 19 September 1973, in Nogales, Sonora Mexico, he holds Mexican nationality. David keeps his personal life under wraps, and hasn’t disclosed much information about his family, but it’s known that he has three elder brothers, and that his parents’ names are Olga and Augustin.

David dreamed about becoming an actor, and began performing from an early age, appearing in school plays. However, he didn’t want to rely just on his good looks and acting talent, so upon matriculation from high school in 1991, he enrolled at the Universidad de Sonora, and graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in Law in 1995.

Roles in series and telenovelas

David made his acting debut portraying Marcos in “Marea Brava” in 1999, and then two years later, he was seen in an episode of the series “Like in the Movies”.

In 2002, David had guest roles in numerous popular series, including “American Family”, “The Shield”, and “Buffy the Vampire Slayer”, and in the following year, David was seen in “Monk”, “ER”, and “Eve”, before he landed the role of Omar in the series “Los Sanchez” (2004-2005).

Over the next 15 years, David has appeared in over 100 episodes of several telenovelas – in 2006 he was Diego in the “Amores Cruzados” opposite Ana Lucia Dominque, and followed with his role as Maximiliano ‘Max’ Irazabal in “Acorralada”, a romantic crime drama that followed the story of a wealthy and unscrupulous family which changed the destiny of one mother and her daughters.

David’s next significant role came in 2009 when he was cast to play Bruno Albeniz in “Sortilegio”, followed by his role as Alonso Penalvert in “Soy Tu Duena” in 2010.

The following year saw David starring as Ivan Villagomez in “The Power of Destiny”, a romantic drama that was the most-awarded soap opera of the year. In 2012, he was seen as Damian Arango in “Abyss of Passion”, followed by his roles in “Mentir Para Vivir” (2013), “Until the End of Time” (2014-2015), and “The Three Sides of Ana” in 2016.

David was next seen as Ryan Cabrera in “La Doble Vida de Estela Carrillo”, also starring Africa Zavala and Ariadne Diaz, and the series was nominated for The Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation (GLAAD) Award for Outstanding Scripted Television Series (Spanish Language) in 2018.

During 2018 and 2019, David starred as Ricardo Bustamante in “Por Amar Sin Ley”, a drama about the lives of a group of high-powered Mexican lawyers; the series had 12 award nominations and David was nominated for the Premios TVyNovelas Award for Best Actor in a Telenovela (Mejor Actor).

In 2020, David reprised his role as Ricardo Bustamante, guest-starring in the drama “Médicos, Línea de Vida”, and then he was seen as Jose Luis Navarrette in “La Dona”. He followed with his role as Alvaro Falcon in “Vencer el Desamor” (2020-2021).

Most recently, David was seen starring as Chente Ramirez Perez in “Mi Fortuna es Amarte”, also starring Chantal Andere and Susana Gonzales, who shares a nomination for the Premios Juventud Award for Me Enamoran with David.

David’s fans can enjoy watching him playing Jeronimo Garrido in the series “Vencer la Ausencia”, which premiered in Mexico on 18 July 2022.

Roles in movies

David made his big-screen debut portraying a Team Member in the 2003 movie “Jeepers Creepers 2”, a horror written and directed by Victor Salva, which had six award nominations, including the Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films, USA Saturn Award for Best Horror Film.

In the following year, he was seen as Julio in “Desnudos”, in which he appears nude, and this wasn’t his first time playing nude, since he was the part of the play “Cuatro XXXX” where the performers were completely nude.

In 2008, David made an appearance as Alex in the short movie “Two of a Kind”, also starring Ronnie Alvarez, Blake Calabrese, and Michelle Arenal.

Heavily involved in TV productions, David waited for over a decade to be cast to play in the 2021 movie “Venom: Let There Be Carnage”, starring Tom Hardy and Michelle Williams, however, his role as Max was uncredited.

Love life and wife

David was the subject of numerous rumors mostly about his sexual orientation, and at first, rumors were saying that he is in a relationship with the so-called ‘King of Enlargements’, Daniel Urquiza, and then he was romantically linked to Ricky Martin.

In one of his interviews for a Mexican magazine, David opened up about his sexual orientation saying that he’s straight, but adding that he wouldn’t have a problem saying he is gay if that was the truth.

Speaking of his relationships, David previously dated Aracely Arambula, a famous Mexican actress, and was also in a relationship with Altair Jarabo, also a Mexican actress.

From 2010 until 2019, David was in a relationship with Lina Radwan, another Mexican actress – rumors about their break-up followed assumptions that David left her for a man, and there is the video entitled “La Vez Que David Zepeda dejó a Lina Radwan por un hombre” (in English: The Time David Zepeda left Lina Radwan for a man) posted on YouTube channel Upsocl POP.

Some rumors were saying that Lina said that she believes that David is bi-sexual, however, she hasn’t spoken publicly about these assumptions.

As of 2022, it seems that David is single – if you visited his Instagram account and saw some wedding photos, don’t be tricked – these are photos from the set of his new series.
