Corey Drew Seager was born on 27 April 1994, in Charlotte, North Carolina, USA, and is a professional baseball player, best known from playing in Major League Baseball (MLB) as a shortstop for the Los Angeles Dodgers. Corey attended Northwest Cabarrus High School, and during his time there played baseball. After matriculating, he committed to play as a part of the University of South Carolina on a college baseball scholarship. He played with the university until 2012, when he declared to join the 2012 MLB Draft. He was selected by the Los Angeles Dodgers as the 18th overall selection, and was given a signing bonus which was a significant base to his net worth.

As with most newcomers, Seager started his career in the minor leagues, firstly with the Ogden Raptors, then soon promoted to the Class A Midwest League’s Great Lake Loons in 2013. After performing well for them, he was promoted to the Class A-Advanced Rancho Cucamonga Quakes, followed by playing for the Glendale Desert Dogs, and participated in the AFL Fall Stars Game. He became the seventh best prospect in baseball and was invited to major league spring training, before playing for the Tulsa Drillers and then being promoted to the AAA Oklahoma City Dodgers before finally getting called up to the majors.

Corey made his debut as the starting shortstop of the Dodgers, and played well throughout the season. He became the third youngest player in history to achieve 4-for-4 with his first MLB home run, a walk, and a stolen base. He then passed Bill Russell by reaching base safely during all of his first 16 starts in the major league. He was also the youngest position player to start a postseason game in the franchise, playing as the starting shortstop during the 2015 National League Division Series. He continued playing as the starting shortstop in 2016, and breaking records. He was named National League Rookie of the Month, and was selected to play for the National League All-Star team. He surpassed Eric Karros Dodgers’ rookie record and would then move past Steve Sax for most hits in a season by a Dodgers Rookie. He was eventually named as the 2016 Rookie of the Year, as the team reached the Championship Series. He was awarded the Silver Slugger Award, and the unanimously named National League Rookie of the Year.

In 2017, Seager was named to his second straight All-Star game, and won his second consecutive Silver Slugger Award, although his playing time was reduced because of an elbow injury. He played during the 2017 NLDS but had to stop playing during the NLCS due to a back injury. He returned to play in the 2017 World Series, but the Dodgers lost to the Houston Astros.
