Colin Andrew Firth was born on 10 September 1960, in Grayshott, Hampshire, England, and is an actor, best known for his film appearances, particularly in the 2010 film “The King’s Speech” which earned him multiple best actor awards. He’s also seen in the spy film “Kingsman: The Secret Service” released in 2014. All of his efforts have helped in putting his net worth where it is today.

Colin was born into an academic family, with both parents having backgrounds in teaching. He travelled a lot because of his parents, and ended up in places including Nigeria and the United States. He attended the Montgomery of Alamein Secondary School and then soon discovered his love for acting. He attended drama classes and workshops and Barton Peveril Sixth Form College where he became interested in English Literature. After graduating, Firth would move to London to join the National Youth Theater, working in the wardrobe department and slowly increasing his network of contacts. He would then study at the Drama Centre London in the early ’80s, to later pursue professional acting.

Firth started off in productions such as “Hamlet” and “Another Country”, and in 1984, he made his first film, an adaptation of the latter play as a straight, Marxist. One of his first endeavors in television would be “Lost Empires” in 1986. Colin became part of what would be known as the “Brit Pack”, a group of up and coming British Actors that included Tim Roth and Paul McGann. During this time he had parts inf various television series and films such as “A Month in the Country”, “Tumbledown” and “Apartment Zero”. He started earning awards for his performances, so was obviously getting a lot of recognition. What really pushed Colin to the spotlight was his portrayal of Mr. Darcy in an adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice”, the TV adaptation of which became a huge success and gave Firth international popularity. His role here would eventually lead him to more international film releases such as “Bridget Jones’s Diary”, “Shakespeare in Love”, “Fever Pitch”, and “Conspiracy”.

Colin continued to make films and even try his hand in various genres such as musicals with “Mamma Mia!”, and fantasy with “Nanny McPhee”. His films received either positive reviews or mixed ones as typical with most films. In 2010 however, Firth’s skills would be solidified in his portrayal of King George VI in “The King’s Speech”, for which he won an Academy Award, Screen Actors Guild Award, and many more for his stellar performance. Another film that was a huge international success was 2014’s “Kingsman: The Secret Service” which grossed $412.4 million worldwide.

For his personal life, it is known that Colin had a relationship with Meg Tilly and they have a son. They broke up in 1994, and later Firth met and married film producer Livia Giuggioli in 1997. They have two sons and they currently reside in either London or Italy. Firth has been awarded an honorary degree by the University of Winchester and he also has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
