Lionel Pickens was born on the 4th December 1983, in Queens, New York City USA, and died on the 17th May 2015. He earned his fame emerging through the rapper scene of America under the stage name Chinx Drugz. During his active career he collaborated with famous rap artists like French Montana; in fact, Chinx was a member of Montana`s rap group “Coke Boys” which also includes rappers such as Velous and Lil Durk. His career had begun in 2000, but ended with his premature death in 2015, however he will be remembered through his popular songs like “Right There”, “Up in Here”, “Feelings” and “I`m A Coke Boy”.

Chinx grew up in Far Rockaway, Queens. His initials in the rap industry have been engraved since his high school days, as he had started rapping with his friend Stuck Bundles. Following high school, the duo worked on their rapping skills while collaborating with other rappers of the scene like Bynoe, Max B, Jim Jones and others, forming the group “Byrd Gang”. Eventually the group included projects with the famous rapper French Montana and his “Coke Boys” group.

Chinx Drugz’s first step forward in the rap scene was his mixtape “Hurry Up & Die Vol. 1: Get Ya Casket On” released in 2009. Then followed two sequels, “Hurry up & Die Vol. 2: From the Cage to the Stage” released in 2010 and “Hurry up & Die Vol. 3” also released in 2010. His next accomplishment was a collaboration with the New York producer Harry Fraud, with whom Chinx has worked on his next mixtape “Flight 2011”, released on the 15th March 2011. Following the success of the mixtape, he had deepened his collaboration with French Montana, releasing a mixtape they recorded together, titled “Coke Boys NY”.

His fame and net worth rose with his success through these and the next few years. In 2013, Chinx announced that his first studio EP would be released at the end of that year. In October, Chinx released his first single entitled “Feelings”, which featured the aforementioned rapper French Montana. In November, Chinx released his long awaited EP “I`ll Take it From Here”.

In 2014 he released a few more mixtapes, which also influenced his fame and net worth, and then started recording his first studio album. It was announced that it will be entitled “Welcome To JFK” and that it will be released sometime in 2015. However the album was released posthumously in August 2015. His first official single was released through eOne Music in June 2015, entitled “On Your Body”.

Unfortunately, Chinx was shot around 4:00 am on 17th May 2015 while driving his car on Queens Boulevard, and was transferred to Queens Medical center but pronounced dead upon the arrival, at the age of 31. Although Chinx died, his career can be regarded as successful, and it is without question that the name of Chinx Drugz will not be forgotten. His funeral was organized by his wife, Janelli Caceres and his friends and colleagues including French Montana.
