Born in Chicago, Illinois, Scott always had a fascination for climates. Even at a young age she was apparently already committed to eventually studying meteorology when she grew-up. After matriculating from Paul VI high school in New Jersey, she subsequently attended Brown University, graduating with a degree in Geological Sciences in 2007, and then obtained her meteorology certificate from Mississippi University in 2010. She also starred as a sprinter on the track and as a long-jumper, and played soccer too, until a ruptured Achilles tendon curtailed her sports career.

However, concurrently with her studies, in 2006, Scott joined WCAU-NBC in Philadelphia for an internship program, where she got to work with Earth Watch, through which she learned the basics of forecasting, and also got to know more about how the Earth’s changing climate and weather affects the wildlife, in addition to peoples and nations. The internships widened her borders, and also helped her start her full-time professional career in reporting.

After her time at WCAU-NBC, Scott then transferred to WSEE-TV in Eerie, and began her career as a weekend weather reporter; her job included covering the weather reporting in Central America and the Caribbean. It was during her time in Eerie that she became known for reporting through harsh weather conditions including tropical tornados, snowstorms and high temperatures. Her early years in weather reporting helped elevate her career, and also her net worth.

In 2009, Scott moved to Knoxville to work at WBIR as their weather reporter, but she also worked for the station as a weekend news hound, and also on its Thursdays and Fridays reports. She participated in the stations show “Live at Five at Four” to breakout live news reports too.

After two years at WBIR, Scott transferred to NBC5 in Chicago, to become the station’s morning and evening weekend weather reporter, working for the station from 2011 to 2014. Aside from giving weather reports, she also worked alongside the Red Cross while covering aforementioned disasters.

Since 2014, Scott has been active in weather reporting working with ABC7, joining “Eyewitness News” and their weather team. She also sits among the Board of Directors of the American Red Cross. She also lends her time to various charities including Make-A-Wish Foundation.

In terms of her personal life, Scott is reputedly still single, but there are rumours of relationships with hockey player Patrick Sharp, and restaurateur Josh Iachelli, which she has denied. Cheryl still has a strong interest in sports.
