How rich is Carli Lloyd? As of early-2016, sources estimate that her net worth is at $500,000, mostly accumulated through a successful career in soccer. She’s helped various teams reach championships and was considered the best scorer in most of the tournaments she’s participated in. She’s also had a few endorsements which have helped raise and maintain her wealth.

Carli started playing soccer at the age of five and even played a lot with the local boy players. She attended Delran High School under the tutelage of “The Red Baron” Rudy Klobach, and received various awards throughout the three years that she played, and also captained the team to an 18-3 record in her senior year. She attended Rutgers University afterwards, playing from 2001 to 2004 for the women’s soccer team, the Scarlet Knights. She was named part of the First-Team All-Big East for four consecutive years, the first of any athlete at the school to do so. She also became the team’s leading scorer, and was even in contention for the Hermann Trophy during her junior year. Her performance in the school eventually earned her an induction into the Rutgers Hall of Distinguished Alumni later on.

In between her games during high school and college, Lloyd played with numerous teams and leagues. The year 2008 marked the return of a professional soccer league in the United States in the form of WPS or Women’s Professional Soccer. Carli was allocated to the Chicago Red Bears, scoring two goals for the club which finished the season sixth. She was eventually made a free agent, and then signed with the 2009 WPS champions, Sky Blue FC. During the season, she slipped and broke her ankle, causing her to miss most of the year.

In late 2010, she signed with expansion team the Atlanta Beat, scoring two goals for the lowest ranked team during the 2011 season. During the league’s transition to become the National Women’s Soccer League, Lloyd became part of the Western New York Flash, and contributed to the Flash’s great season. She scored 10 goals in the season which was the third highest in the league. She also helped her team make an appearance in the finals, losing to the Portland Thorns FC. After that, she was traded to the Houston Dash, where she plays today.

Even while playing for the WPS and NWSL, Carli played many internationals representing the US. The most recent event she dominated was at the 2015 FIFA World Cup. In the tournament she captained four of the team’s matches, from the quarterfinals to the final against Japan. She scored a hat trick during the finals, the final goal of which was regarded by Reuters as one of the most remarkable goals in a Women’s World Cup. She became the first female to score a hat trick in a World Cup Final and only the second player to do so in history. She also won the Golden Ball as the best player of the tournament. She is now approaching 100 internationals.

For her personal life, not much is known about it. She lives with her fiancée Brian Hollins in Mount Laurel, New Jersey. Off the field, she is involved in philanthropic work, and in advertising connected with endorsements with Nike.

Quotes

#Quote
1[on discouraging her fiancé and family from attending the World Cup matches] We train for this every four years, and I don't want any distractions. I don't want to have to worry about tickets and travel and if they're having fun or squeezing time into see them, when I could be getting a massage and into an ice bath.
2[comparing women's soccer to men's] It's different. Women don't flop as much as men. It's a pride thing. I'm not sure why some men do it.
3[on the coolest thing to happen to her since American women won the 2015 World Cup] The ticker-tape parade in New York City. People in windows dressed in red, white and blue chanting our names, paper flying everywhere. To know that people are so inspired by me and my teammates is incredible.
4I want to leave the game as one of the best players ever. And in order to do that, you need to score in big moments. You need to rise to challenges. That's what I love to do.
