Ben Daniel Crenshaw, born on the 11th of January 1952, is an American professional golfer famously known for his wins in the 1984 and 1995 Masters Tournament, and for leading the United States team to victory in the Ryder Cup in 1999.

A native of Austin, Texas, he attended Austin High School, where he played various sports including basketball, baseball and even American Football, but golf has always been the sport that he was most passionate about. In his last year in high school he placed 32nd in the U.S. Open, making him one of the best players at the age of 18.
In college, he studied of course but also played for the University of Texas in 1970. During his university years, he won the National Collegiate Athletic Association Championships in three consecutive years, spanning from 1971 to 1973 and even placed twenty-seventh at the U.S. Open. Crenshaw immediately wowed the world of golf when he won the San Antonio-Texas Open, his first professional tournament, making him one of the few golfers who won the first major event of their career.
