Arturo spent the majority of his childhood in Latium in central western Italy, and later moved with his family to Montreal, Quebec, Canada. In his teenage years, Gatti settled in Jersey City, New Jersey USA.
In the early 1990s, Arturo was a part of the Canadian National Team, and trained with the team to participate in the 1992 Summer Games, however, he decided to become a professional boxer, and made his debut in June ’91, and had five victories, against such boxers as Jose Gonzales, Francisco Aguiano and Joe Lafontant, among others, before his November ‘92 fight against against King Solomon which he lost. Arturo then traveled to Amsterdam, Netherlands for his next match, defeating Plawen Goutchew in the first round. In 2011 it was reported that Arturo had died violently, probably suffocated as his neck suffered constriction before death occurred.
