Anupam Kher is an acknowledged Bollywood actor, director and producer born on 7th March 1955, in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh, India. During his long career he has appeared in more than 500 films and numerous plays, but his most successful projects include films such as “Bend It Like Beckham” – nominated for a Golden Globe – “Lust, Caution”, which won a Golden Lion in 2007, and “Silver Linings Playbook” which won an Oscar in 2013. Anupam grew up in Shimla, in a family of modest means. After finishing his education at D.A.V. School in Shimla, he decided to enroll in the National School of Drama, where he perfected his acting skills. In the early years of his career, some of his roles were performed at the Himachal Pradesh University. Kher’s acting debut came with the 1982 Hindi movie “Aagman”, and soon followed “Saaransh” (1984). During this period he also hosted several television shows, including “Sawaal Dus Crore Ka”, “Say Na Something To Anupam Uncle” and “Lead India”. The late ‘80s were marked with roles in films such as “Karma” (1986), and “Daddy” (1989) for which he earned the Filmfare Critics Award for Best Performance. His net worth was aell established.

In 2007 Anupam and Satish Kaushik co-founded the “Karol Bagh Productions” film production company, and released their first film called “Tere Sang”. Four years later, Kher starred in what he claims to be one of the seven best films in his career – the romantic drama “Pranayam”. In 2014 he landed a role in British film “Shongram”, based on the event of the Bangladesh Liberation War, and some of his most recent activities include narrating the ABP News television documentary series “Bharatvarsh” in 2016, and the release of his first fiction project called “Khwaabon Ki Zamin Par” at the end of the same year.

Privately, Kher has been married to actress Kirron Kher since 1985. Kirron’s son from her previous relationship is also a known Indian actor – Sikandar Kher.
