Adam Beach was one of three sons of Sally and Dennis Beach, at the Lake Manitoba/Dog Creek First Nation Reserve. He has First Nations ancestry, as a Saulteaux of the Ojibwa nation, though he reportedly also has some Icelandic heritage on his great-grandmother’s side. He and his two brothers were mainly raised by their grandmother, and then their paternal uncle and aunt, due to the early death of their parents – Adam’s pregnant mother, Sally, was killed by a drunk driver when he was eight, and his father was found drowned some eight weeks after her death.
