Who is Stephen Bishop?

Stephen C. Bishop was born in Chicago, Illinois USA, on 14 September 1971 – his zodiac sign is Virgo, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor and a former baseball player, who has been credited with appearing in close to 50 movies and TV series, while he’s perhaps still known best for his portrayal of David Justice, in the 2011 biographical sports film “Moneyball”. It was directed by Bennett Miller, starred Brad Pitt, Robin Wright and Jonah Hill, and follows the manager of a not-so-successful baseball team who has managed to improve their performance with the help of computer-generated analysis. The movie won 29 of the 117 awards for which it was nominated, including six Oscar nominations.

Early life and education

Stephen was raised in Chicago by his parents, about whom nothing’s known as he respects their privacy; it’s said that his father was an American Football player, and that his mother was a model, He hasn’t mentioned having any siblings, so Stephen is believed to be an only child.

He became interested in sports after he moved to Northern California and began attending Campolindo High School. Stephen played both football and baseball during his four years there, and was then offered a scholarship to the University of California, Riverside; he played baseball for their team the Highlanders, and with them competed in College World Series.

Stephen graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in 1993.

Baseball career

Stephen signed a contract with the baseball team Atlanta Braves, and played 20 games with them in the Pioneer League, then after close to a year with the Braves, he began playing for the Sioux Falls Canaries competing in the Northern League, and then switched to St. Paul Saints.

In 1996, Stephen started playing for the High Desert Mavericks, and before choosing to focus solely on his acting career, he also played for the Baltimore Orioles.

Stephen made his debut film appearance with his portrayal of Tyrell Hunt in the 2003 family action drama “Pitcher and the Pin-Up”, and the same year saw him play Knappmiller in the critically acclaimed action adventure comedy “The Rundown”.

It was directed by Peter Berg, starred Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson, Seann William Scott and Christopher Walken, and follows a man who has been hired by a mobster to bring back his son from the Amazon; the movie won two of the five awards for which it was nominated.

A couple of Stephen’s following roles were in the 2004 action sports drama “Friday Night Lights”, the 2006 romantic comedy drama “Americanese” and in the same year the horror thriller “Sam’s Lake”. In 2008, he played ER Doctor in the hit action fantasy drama “Hancock”, directed by Peter Berg, and which starred Will Smith, Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman. Stephen made his debut TV series appearance in two episodes of the comedy “Girlfriends” in 2004, and the remainder of the decade saw him make a guest appearance in an episode or two of various series, such as the sports drama “Friday Night Lights”, the drama “Brothers & Sisters” and the romantic comedy drama “The Game”.

Between 2013 and 2015, he starred as David in the romantic thriller drama “Being Mary Jane”, created by Mara Brock Akil, and which also starred Gabrielle Union, Lisa Vidal and Raven Goodwin. Stephen hasn’t spoken of any other women whom he has perhaps been with, and as of November 2021, he’s in a long-term relationship with Jesiree Dizon, hasn’t married but they have a son.

Hobbies and other interests

Stephen is passionate about working out, and has five to six training sessions at the gym every week, while he sometimes works out every day; he’s also following a strict diet, which forbids him to eat sweets and fast food.

Stephen likes to play various sports, including soccer, golf and basketball.

He’s a philanthropist, and has apparently donated money to various charity organizations, mostly to those which aim to help underprivileged children, but Stephen’s a huge animal lover, and has also donated money to animal shelters.

He’s into travelling, and his career has taken him all around the world; Stephen’s dream travel destination is Miami in Florida.
