Of English and Persian ancestry, her father was a mathematics teacher at the University of North Wales in Bangor, while her mother was a jazz singer and a homemaker in her later life. When it comes to her personal life, there aren’t many details available about her, before her relationship with Lauer.
According to reports, she’s married and divorced two times. Her first husband was a Detroit-based cosmetic dentist – his name remains a mystery, but the two lived in Detroit and New York for some time together before they split in 1999.
In 2003, Shamin married her second husband, Fred Cilione; the couple launched their restaurant; however, their business fell through the same year. Financial problems put a strain on their romance, and the couple divorced in 2007, dividing their assets equally. However, she claimed that the divorce was messy, and with two failed marriages, Shamin says that she doesn’t want to marry again.

Matthew Todd Lauer was born on 30 December 1957, in New York, USA, one of two children born to Jay Robert Lauer, a bicycle-company executive, and his wife Marilyn Lauer, a boutique owner. His parents divorced when he was still a child, which affected him negatively.
After high school, Matt enrolled at Ohio University, but dropped out in 1979 to focus on his career; nevertheless, he returned to Ohio University’s Cripps College of Communication, School of Media Arts and Studies at the age of 39 to finish his studies.
Matt’s career started in the late ’70s, when he became a producer for WOWK-TV in Huntington, West Virginia of the noon newscast, then the following year, he became the station’s on-air reporter for 6p.m. and 11p.m. newscasts.
