Joseph Sikora is an award-winning American actor, who is famously known for playing Tommy in the 50 Cent and Courtney A. Kemp’s drama series “Power” and its two spin-offs, “Power Book II: Ghost” and “Power Book IV: Force.”

Age, Early Life, and Education Background

Joseph Sikora is a native of Chicago, Illinois,  and was born under the Cancer zodiac sign on 27 June 1976, which makes him 46 years old as of 2022. He’s the son of businessman Albin Sikora, and his better half Barbara, who is a housewife, and was raised alongside his two brothers, twin Albin Sikora, a documentary film director, and Christopher ‘Chris’ Sikora. He’s of mixed Polish and Dutch roots and follows the Christianity religion.

The Illinois native began expressing an interest in acting as a child and appeared in theaters at a young age. Joseph began his career as a model, and appeared in commercials for several established brands such as McDonald’s, together with the retired National Basketball Association star and Charlotte Hornets chairman, Michael Jordan, in 1990.

Joseph made his TV debut as Ray in the episode “The Ditch” of the sitcom “Roomie” in 1987. Before the century ended, he was seen in single episodes of five more TV shows, and Sikora later appeared in single episodes of several hit shows including “CSI: NY” in 2004, “Grey’s Anatomy,” “ER,” and “Criminal Minds,” in 2005, and “Prison Break” in 2006. He landed the recurring role of Jason Gambel in the 12th season of the long-running NBC drama “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” in 2010, sharing the screen with Christopher Meloni, Ice-T, Mariska Hargitay” and several others.

Sikora appeared in four series including “Boardwalk Empire”, before he starred as Sheriff in the first and second seasons between 2011 and 2013 of the Adult Swim horror comedy, “The Heart, She Holler,” which also starred Heather Lawless and Amy Sedaris. From 2014 to 2020, he played Tommy Egan in the NAACP Image Award-winning Starz drama “Power”, and reprised his role in its sequel “Power Book II: Ghost” in 2021. Concurrently, he also played recurring roles in WGN America’s drama, “Underground” in 2016 and 2017, and the crime series “Ozark” from 2020-2022.

In 2019, Joseph scooped the National Film & TV Award in the category of Best Actor for his

performance in “Power.” Two years later, he received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series for his works in “Ozark”, shared with the series’ crew. Sikora also received the Joseph Jefferson and Ovation awards for theaters in Chicago and Los Angeles respectively.

Personal Life

Joseph is a married man – he met his wife-to-be, the New York-based make-up artist, Tania Ribalow, on the set of the HBO drama series “Boardwalk Empire” in 2010. During an interview with The Untitled Magazine, he admitted that he fell in love with her at first sight, and added that the feeling was one-sided because Tania’s agency was against the dating of actors on the set. He finally asked her out on a date after the famed make-up artist, Nicki Ledermann, who was her boss, introduced him to her. After dating for a while, the duo walked the aisle secretly in 2014, but Joseph’s plan to keep the identity of his wife hidden backfired on him – this happened when one of his fans named Laura Clarke wrote him a tweet asking for his hand in marriage, and he turned her down joking that his partner would kill him. The “Power” star later confirmed his wedding on Twitter on 23 August 2018.

Sikora’s wife has served as the make-up artist in several projects such as “The Irishman,” “Joker,” “Boardwalk Empire,” and “The Great Showman,” among others. She is a two-time nominee for Emmy Awards for her contributions to the TV series’ “VINYL” and “The Knick.”

Joseph likes referring to his wife as ‘Jersey Girl’ because she loves wearing bright clothes, flashy earrings, and excess make-up. They are currently living in Manhattan. Joseph’s mother previously commended him for marrying Tania, whom she considers a good life partner.

He is good friends with his fellow cast member, Omari Hardwick, and previously wished him a happy birthday on Instagram. The couple is good friends with Irene Moles, who guided their romantic trip from Fiesole to Florence.
