Who is J. B. Mauney?
James Burton ‘J. B.’ Mauney was born in Charlotte, North Carolina USA, on 9 January 1987 – his zodiac sign is Capricorn, and he holds American nationality. He’s a professional rodeo cowboy, known best for his accomplishments in the international organization Professional Bull Riders (PBR); he won two PBR Championships in 2013 and 2015, while he’s today mostly into competing in Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) and Championship Bull Riding (CBR).
He’s believed to be amongst the best bull riders of today.
Early life and education
J. B. was raised in Charlotte alongside his sister Jessi Proctor, by their parents Tim and Lynne Mauney; not a lot is known about J. B.’s family as he respects their privacy, but it’s believed that his father’s a ranch owner, and his mother a housewife.
J. B. grew up being physically highly active, as he enjoyed helping out his father at their ranch, and played various sports while attending a local high school. He became interested in bull riding when he was around 12, and enjoyed watching it with his father, however, he didn’t try it himself until he was 16.
Upon matriculating in 2005, J. B. didn’t enroll at college, but began competing in bull riding.
Career as a professional bull rider
It was in 2005 that J. B. began competing in PBR, and then joined PRCA in 2009.
J. B. attracted a lot of attention in August 2013, when he became the second bull rider managing to stay for eight seconds on the American former bucking bull Bushwacker, while competing in Built Ford Tough Series (BFTS). A year earlier, J. B. managed to have a qualified ride on the 2012 World Champion bull Asteroid, while only four other bull riders had been able to achieve that before him.

Until 2013, J. B. always competed in bull riding with a helmet on, but he’s since been riding with a cowboy hat.
On 5 November 2016, he became the first bull rider to earn over $7 million solely from the sport.
J. B.’s suffered various injuries throughout his career, but the most serious was perhaps in 2017, when he broke his right arm and had to have a screw and 13 anchors installed; when asked about the injury in an interview with Monster Energy, J. B. stated that it’s all part of being a cowboy.
J. B.’s been a co-owner of the American freestyle bullfighting organization Ultimate Bullfighters (UBF) since 2020.

Most recently, in July 2021, J. B. revealed that he would no longer be competing in PBR, but would focus on competing in PRCA; he qualified for National Finals Rodeo (NFR) in the same year, and competed in it in December 2021.
Other achievements
J. B. was named Rookie of the Year in 2006.
Between 2006 and 2020, for 15 years in a row, J. B. qualified for the PBR World Finals, winning the event twice, in 2009 and 2013.
In January 2018, J. B. competed in Monster Energy Buck Off, and after having ridden the bull All The Way Up, became the third professional bull rider to have 500 bull rides.
He’s also recognized as a rider who picks the best-rated bull in the elite rounds.

Love life and wife
J. B. prefers to keep the details of his love life to himself, but it’s still widely known that he’s married twice. He exchanged vows with his first wife, American non-celebrity Lexie Wiggly in 2012; not a lot is known about Lexie, as J. B. respects her privacy, but they didn’t have children together, and divorced in 2015.
It’s believed by some of J. B.’s fans that what led to his and Lexie’s divorce was him falling in love with another American non-celebrity, Samantha Lyne; they exchanged vows in 2016, and Samantha gave birth to their son on 23 January 2019.
J. B. also has a daughter, born in 2011, but her mother’s name remains undisclosed.
As of June 2022, J. B.’s married to his second wife Samantha Lyne, and has a son with her; he also has a daughter from a previous relationship.

Hobbies and other interests
J. B.’s passionate about travelling, and his career as a bull rider has taken him to various US states; he’s also travelled for pleasure, and he and his wife have vacationed in a number of European countries, such as France, England and Italy.
He seems to be enjoying the attention which he’s receiving from his more than 500,000 Instagram followers, and is thus today quite active on the network, having uploaded over 400 pictures and videos, most of which feature him during his everyday life.
He likes to watch movies in his spare time – his favorite actor and actress are Clint Eastwood and Angelina Jolie, while a couple of his favorite films include “The Good, The Bad and The Ugly”, “Million Dollar Baby”, and “The Outlaw Josey Wales”.
J. B.’s a philanthropist, and has donated money to several charity organizations working with underprivileged children.
