Who is Gabriella Wilde?

Gabriella Zanna Vanessa Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe was born in Basingstoke, Hampshire, England, on 8 April 1989 – her zodiac sign’s Aries, and she holds British nationality. She’s an actress and model, with 11 acting credits to her name, perhaps still known best for her portrayal of Constance in the popular 2011 action adventure fantasy movie “The Three Musketeers”, directed by Paul W. S. Anderson, and which starred Logan Lerman, Matthew Macfadyen and Ray Stevenson. It follows young D’Artagnan and three elderly musketeers, as they’re trying to stop a double agent and her employer from taking over the French throne; the movie was nominated for five awards.

Early life and education

Gabriella was raised in Basingstoke alongside her younger sister Octavia, by their mother Vanessa Mary Theresa (nee Hubbard), a former model, and their father John Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe, who’s a businessman and former chairman of the Watermark Group; Gabriella has five half-siblings from her father’s former marriage to Lady Mary-Gaye Curzon, while her mother had previously been married to Sir David St Vincent ‘Dai’ Llewellyn, 4th Baronet.

Gabriella became interested in acting at quite an early age, as she would often watch movies and TV series with her sister. Gabriella was 14 when she launched her career as a model, having been spotted by British model and actress Naomi Elaine Campbell, and was then signed to Naomi’s agency Premier Model Management, and went on to pose for companies such as Abercrombie & Fitch, Lacoste and L. K. Bennet.

Gabriella’s also been featured in many magazines, including “Nylon”, “Cosmopolitan” and “InStyle”.

Gabriella made her debut film appearance with her portrayal of Saffy in the 2009 adventure family comedy “St. Trinian’s 2: The Legend of Fritton’s Gold”, directed by Oliver Parker and Barnaby Thompson, and which starred Rupert Everett, Colin Firth and David Tennant. Most recently, in 2020, she played Raquel in the critically acclaimed action adventure fantasy “Wonder Woman 1984”, written and directed by Patty Jenkins, and which starred Gal Gadot, Chris Pine and Kristen Wiig. The movie follows Wonder Woman as she’s investigating the disappearance of an ancient artifact that could destroy the world – it won 18 of the 61 awards for which it was nominated.

Gabriella’s appeared in just two TV series; she played Vampire Girl in the 2010 episode “The Vampires of Venice” of the adventure science fiction drama “Doctor Who”, created by Sydney Newman, and which today stars Jodie Whittaker, Peter Capaldi and Pearl Mackie. It follows the alien adventurer Doctor Who as he’s travelling around time and space, the present version has been airing since 2005 and has won 122 awards, including four BAFTAs, while it’s been nominated for 217 other awards. Gabriella played Caroline Enys in 35 episodes of the romantic drama “Poldark”, created by Debbie Horsfield, and which starred Aidan Turner, Eleanor Tomlinson and Jack Farthing. It tells the story of Ross Poldark who’s just returned home following the American Revolutionary War, and has launched a new business; the series aired from 2015 to 2019 and won eight awards, including a BAFTA Audience Award, while it was nominated for 32 other awards.

Gabriella likes both summer and winter: winter because she’s an avid skier, and summer because she likes to sunbathe at the beach.

She loves nature, and prefers vacationing at natural locations rather than in overcrowded cities.

Gabriella’s favorite actor and actress are Eddie Redmayne and Amanda Seyfried, while a couple of her favorite movies are “Dear John”, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them” and the franchise “Harry Potter”.
