A young and talented actor, who rose to prominence after his portrayal of Sam in the series “PEN15”, Taj Cross was born under the zodiac sign of Aquarius on 11 February 2004, in Los Angeles, California USA. He holds American nationality, and his ethnicity is Caucasian.
Early life and education
Taj was raised with his sister in Los Angeles by their parents, but is secretive about his personal life, thus he hasn’t shared any further information about his family, except that his parents were big fans of American blues musician Claire Fredericks Junior, who is better known by his stage name, Taj Mahal, and thus Taj was named after him.

When he was ten years old, he started playing in the musical theater which performed spin-offs of Disney movies, and when he got to play King Trident in “The Little Mermaid”, he became interested in acting, and subsequently took acting classes at the Ruskin Group Theatre Company.
Taj has shared a photo from his high school graduation, but hasn’t reveal information about enrolling at college.
Acting career
The funny thing about his first role and audition is that he didn’t realize that the title of the series can be pronounced as ‘penis’, and at first he was confused, saying: ‘I was thinking “Did they send me the wrong audition, am I going out for something I don’t know about?” Then I realized it was just a teenage joke that’s really funny.’
His first audition at the age of 14 was quite successful for him, and he made his debut in the series “PEN15”, which had 37 award nominations, including four for Primetime Emmys, and won three. The series follows the comedic story about dealing with the awkwardness of being a teenager, and also starred Maya Erskine and Anna Konkle.
Taj was cast to play Sam, and spoke about his character in one of his interview, saying: ‘My character is Sam, based off one of the writers named Sam Zvibleman, and he’s a lovable, semi D-bag who has a “dork” posse that ends up making some questionable decisions.’
In 2021, Taj portrayed Gabe in the series “Young Rock”, which is a story about Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson’s growing up, Taj’s character being The Rock’s best friend from a middle school; Taj spoke about this role, saying that the experience was incredible.
The stars of the series, Dwayne Johnson, Joseph Lee Anderson and Stacey Leilua helped him to get into his character, and as Taj said, he was very happy to be given the opportunity to be a part of this series, which had eight award nominations and won two.
Love life and relationships
After his portrayal of Gabe, Taj’s fans wanted to know more about him, and one of the questions was, is he single? As mentioned, he prefers to keep his private life away from the media’s attention, and although some rumors were saying that he was dating one of his fellows from the series “PEN15”, it was just an on-screen match-up.
There are some photos on his Instagram featuring himself and some mysterious girls, however, he hasn’t spoken about a relationship with any of them, so as of February 2022 and aged 18, Taj seems to be single, he hasn’t been married or engaged, and doesn’t have children.
Hobbies and other interests
Taj’s favorite hobby is skateboarding, skating every day and saying that it makes him feel free; he usually skates with his friends, but also alone when he needs to release ‘bad’ energy that he might have.
He is a big fan of Spider-Man, saying that he would like to have his powers; next to the Spider-Man, Batman is his second favorite superhero.
He says that he’s watched every Batman movie, and although he liked Christian Bale’s portrayal, he most enjoyed “The Dark Night”, saying that he was speechless watching the late Heath Ledger’s performance as Joker, which Taj says is his favorite of all time, and was one of the main things that inspired him to act in movies.
Taj also likes the “Harry Potter” franchise, and talked about it, that when he was six years old he got his Harry Potter wand, and was convinced that his magical powers were going to be revealed. While he was shooting for “Young Rock”, he watched the movies again with his cast-mates Lexi Duncan and Bradley Constant.
Speaking about television programs, he enjoys the series “That ’70s Show”, and watched all eight seasons of it four times, until it was removed from Netflix.
When he was younger, he enjoyed the “Toy Story” franchise, and once when at dinner with his family, he and his sister spotted Tom Hanks and approached him, asking Tom to do his Woody impression, and he answered them: ‘I AM doing my Woody impression’, Taj remembered how happy he was, and now, he said, he thinks it’s funny that this award-winning actor was a stuffed cowboy in his eyes.
Taj can’t imagine his day without music, especially finding new music or artist; he listens to music on Spotify, and has 16 playlists, one with his favorite songs, which he said is over 10 hours long.
Another of Taj’s favorite hobbies is painting, whatever comes to his mind, also saying: ‘I’m thinking my next painting is going to be a question mark with drips on the side. So very random.’ He shared one of his paintings with his Facebook followers.
Taj is active on social media platforms, and his Instagram account has been followed by nearly 30,000 people; he had a Twitter account which is now defunct, and although he has no official TikTok account, short videos related to him have amassed over one million views. Taj has his official Facebook page, but hasn’t posted since 2019.
