She’s appeared in close to 20 movies and TV series, and is probably known best for her portrayal of Ma, one of the main characters in the critically acclaimed 2021 biographical movie “Belfast”, written and directed by Kenneth Branagh, and which also starred Jude Hill and Lewis McAskie. It follows a young boy and his family as they’re living in Belfast in the second half of the ‘60s; the movie won 53 awards, including an Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, while it was nominated for 237 other awards.
