Who is Zach Woods?
American actor, screenwriter, producer, director and comedian Zachary ‘Zach’ Woods, was born in Trenton, New Jersey USA, on 25 September 1984, meaning that his zodiac sign is Libra. He’s had roles in over 50 movies and TV series, and is perhaps still best known for his playing of Douglas in the 2010 action crime comedy movie “The Other Guys”, which Adam McKay wrote and directed, and starred Derek Jeter, Mark Wahlberg and Will Ferrell. It follows two police officers from New York City who want to become the best detectives, and the movie won three of its 18 award nominations.
Education and early life
Zach was raised in Yardley, Pennsylvania by his Jewish parents; his mother’s a retired nurse, while his father’s a retired psychiatrist specialized in clinical therapy. Zach has a younger sister and an older brother, but not a lot about them is known, as Zach prefers to keep them away from the media’s attention.
He fell in love with acting when he was 13 years old, after attending summer camp at Interlochen Center for the Arts in Michigan. Zach studied at Pennsbury High School and was passionate about a number of things during his teenage years, including acting with the school’s drama club, playing soccer, and practicing creative writing.
He matriculated in 2003, and then enrolled at New York University, from which he graduated with a Bachelor’s degree in drama in 2007.

Zach’s debut film appearance was his portrayal of Drugstore Cashier in the 2004 comedy “Terrorists”, while some of his following roles were in the 2005 short action adventure “Coke”, the 2006 comedy “Gears”, and the 2009 comedy “In the Loop”.
The year 2011 saw him portray Rick DeWolfe in the romantic comedy drama “Damsels in Distress”, written and directed by Whit Stillman, and which starred Greta Gerwig, Adam Brody and Lio Tipton. It follows three girls attending the college Seven Oaks, who’ve decided to help change the male-dominated environment there, and thus help their fellow students who are suffering from low self-esteem and depression; the film won one of its three award nominations.
Zach could then have been seen portraying Duncan in the 2012 short comedy “Rich Girl Problems”, and Paramedic in the critically acclaimed 2013 action crime comedy “The Heat”, which won seven of its 23 award nominations.
In 2016, he portrayed Tour Guide Garrett in the action fantasy comedy “Ghostbusters”, which Paul Feig wrote and directed, and which starred Kate McKinnon, Kristen Wiig and Melissa McCarthy. It follows four girls who’ve teamed up in an attempt to stop the ghost invasion of Manhattan; the movie won five of its 39 award nominations.
Zach’s three most recent film roles have been in the 2019 animated action adventure “The Angry Birds Movie 2” (voice role), the 2020 comedy drama “Downhill”, and the 2022 romantic comedy “Spin Me Round”.
Roles in TV series
Zach’s debut TV series role was his playing of Geets Wilson in a 2005 episode of the short comedy “My Wife, the Ghost”, and the remainder of the 2000s saw him appear in an episode of the short comedy “Sexual Intercourse: American Style”, another short comedy “Mister Glasses”, and the short romantic comedy “The Office: The 3rd Floor”.
Zach became somewhat famous after he portrayed Gabe Lewis in 51 episodes of one of the most popular comedy series of all time: “The Office” (2010-2013). It was created by Stephen Merchant, Ricky Gervais and Greg Daniels, starred John Krasinski, Jenna Fischer and Steve Carell, and tells the story of a group of typical office workers; the series aired from 2005 to 2013 and won 56 of its 251 award nominations, including five Primetime Emmy wins.
Zach was then invited to make a guest appearance in many popular comedy series, such as “Arrested Development”, “Comedy Bang! Bang!” and “Kroll Show”.

Between 2014 and 2017, he played Zach Harper in the comedy “Playing House”, created by Lennon Parham and Jessica St. Clair, who also starred in it, alongside Keegan-Michael Key. It follows Emma Crawford and Maggie Caruso who’ve been best friends since childhood, and are now trying to raise a baby together; the series was nominated for two awards.
Zach’s three most recent TV series roles have been in 15 episodes of the science fiction comedy “Avenue 5” since 2020, in the 2022 episode “Aniq, The Sequel” of the mystery crime comedy “The Afterparty”, and a 2022 episode of the family drama “Fables”.
Other credits
Zach received special thanks for both the 2016 comedy movie “Don’t Think Twice” and the 2017 comedy film “Fun Mom Dinner”.
He has three writing, two producing and two directing credits – Zach wrote the 2009 short comedy series “Awkward Boy”, and then wrote, produced and directed the 2020 short comedy movie “David”, and the 2021 short drama film “Bud”.

There are many people on the internet who believe that Zach’s gay, claiming that he isn’t ready to come out of the closet and thus doesn’t speak about his love life; some have even claimed to have seen Zach spending time with his boyfriend, but no pictures or videos have been provided to support these claims.
There are also those who believe that he’s today focused on his career and is uninterested in love, but this hasn’t been addressed by Zach.
It’s been reported that he dated American author, TV host and producer Karley Sciortino in 2018, but this remains unconfirmed.

Zach isn’t a big fan of social media networks, and doesn’t have an Instagram account; he’s still allowed a fan page to be launched, and it’s today followed by nearly 3,000 people, while there are more than 200 pictures and videos uploaded onto it.
He loves to dress up for Halloween, and also enjoys doing cosplay.
Zach’s a fan of animated movies, and prefers them over live-action; some of his favorites are “From Up on Poppy Hill”, “Castle in the Sky” and “Despicable Me”. Some of his favorite Hollywood actors are the late Robin Williams, Morgan Freeman and Jim Carrey, and a couple of his favorite films are “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn”, “Old Dogs” and “Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb”.
Zach works out at the gym several times every week, mostly because it’s important for his career to stay in shape; he prefers being outdoors and playing sports with his friends, such as basketball, tennis and golf.
