Who is Marty York?

Marty was born in Auburn, California USA, on 23 August 1980 – his zodiac sign is Virgo, and he holds American nationality. He’s an actor who’s appeared in close to 20 movies and TV series, while he’s perhaps still known best for his portrayal of Alan ‘Yeah-Yeah’ McClennan, in the 1993 family comedy movie “The Sandlot”. It was written and directed by David Mickey Evans, starred Tom Guiry, Mike Vitar and Art LaFleur, and follows a boy who has moved to another city with his family, and has befriended an entire baseball team.

Marty took a long break from acting in 1997, returning in 2010, and he has since been quite active in the film industry.

Early life and education

Marty was raised in Auburn by his mother, and his father Donald York; nothing about his parents is known, as he respects their privacy, but it’s said that Marty’s father was a lawyer, and that his mother is a housewife. Because he hasn’t mentioned having any siblings, most of his fans believe that he’s an only child.

Marty became interested in acting when he was around six years old, mostly because he watched TV with his parents nearly every night. His role in “The Sandlot” was also his debut appearance, and he was 12 while shooting for the movie. Marty was focused solely on acting for the following five years, but then chose to focus on his education.

He attended a local high school, and played various sports during his four years there, while he was mostly focused on playing soccer. Marty made his debut TV series appearance in 1993, with his portrayal of Larry in three episodes of the popular family comedy “Boy Meets World”, created by Michael Jacobs and April Kelly, and which starred Ben Savage, Rider Strong and William Daniels. It follows the life of a teenager and his two siblings, the series aired from 1993 to 2000, and won six of the 23 awards for which it was nominated.

In 1994, Marty appeared in the episode “Miss Jenkins” of the comedy drama “Wings”, and he then voiced a supporting character in the 1996 episode “The Girls of Route Canal” of the animated adventure comedy “Duckman: Private Dick/Family Man”. Prior to taking a break from acting, he played and voiced characters in an episode of the fantasy science fiction adventure “Sliders”, and the animated comedy drama “Hey Arnold!”

His following appearance was in the 2015 episode “Pauly D; Rick Springfield” of the comedy “The Eric Andre Show”, and most recently, he played Creep in the episode “Deep-Dish Pizza & Shot of Holy Water” of the comedy drama “SMILF”. It was created by Frankie Shaw, who also starred in it, alongside Miguel Gomez and Samara Weaving, and the series follows a single mother who’s in her 20s; it won one of the three awards for which it was nominated.

Roles in movies

There was a 17-year gap between Marty’s first and second film roles, as he appeared in “The Sandlot” in 1993, and then in the short comedy drama “The Trainer” in 2010.

The following year saw him play Guido Calypso in the romantic comedy “The Brothers Sinclair”, written and directed by Ronny Jay, and which starred Steven Helmkamp, Mike Manning and Adam Huss. It follows two gay brothers whose uncle has died and left them his private men’s gym, while they have learned that all of their customers are straight, and that the mafia is their partner.

Most recently, in 2021, Marty starred as Jim in the short action comedy “Super Bois”, while he’s currently shooting for the upcoming action adventure comedy “Due Justice”.

Other credits

He was featured in the 2018 documentary movie “Legends Never Die: The Sandlot Story”, and the 2020 TV special “The Sandlot Reunion”.

Marty has made a guest appearance in an episode of a couple of talk-shows, including “Talent Watch”, “Filmed in Utah” and “Today”.

He was in a relationship with a non-celebrity American girl in 2009, and this was revealed after he was arrested for striking her. According to Marty, the two were returning from a nightclub when they had and argument, and he claims that he hit her in self-defense because she was hitting him while he was driving. The news website TMZ has written that the actor could’ve faced up to five years in prison, but he and his girlfriend reconciled, and she dropped the charges.

There are rumors circulating the internet, claiming that he’s today married to the above mentioned girl, but this hasn’t been confirmed.

As of December 2021, Marty seems to be in a relationship, hasn’t married and doesn’t have children.

Hobbies and other interests

Marty is physically highly active, and has five to six training sessions at the gym every week, thus his muscular body. He attended college wanting to become a firefighter, and it was around that time that he began working out.

He’s into travelling, and has been to various US states for both work and pleasure, while Marty has also visited a couple of South American and European countries; his dream travel destination is Miami in Florida.
