Who is Sicily Sewell?

Sicily Sewell was born under the zodiac sign of Libra on 1 October 1985, in Pontiac, Michigan USA; she holds American nationality and her ethnicity is African-American.

In the same year, Sicily portrayed Chantel in the romantic comedy-drama “How Stela Got Her Groove Back”, starring Whoopi Goldberg and Angela Bassett.

Sicily was next cast to play Diana in the TV mini-series “Mama Flora’s Family”, which was nominated for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Image Award for Outstanding Television Movie or Mini-Series.

In 2001, Sicily landed the role of Spirit in “One on One”, a comedy-drama series that followed the story of a sportscaster who had to take responsibility for raising his teenage daughter, Breanna, on his own; Sicily’s character was Breanna’s best friend. The series had eight award nominations, and won one.

It is an interesting fact that Sicilia tried her luck as a fashion designer, and most of the clothes she wore in the aforementioned show were made by her.

Concurrently, Sicily made an appearance as Teen Cece in an episode of the series “The Proud Family”, and after she left “One on One”, she was seen as Lisa Jones in “Fighting the Odds: The Marilyn Gambrell Story”. This biographical drama was based on the true story of Marilyn Gambrell, who was a former parole officer, and her colleague, and their efforts to set up a pioneering trial-based program at one of America’s high schools, to help children of imprisoned parents retrieve control of their lives, and not expect the same to happen to them.

Before she quit acting, Sicily made her last movie appearance as Chloe Spears in “Super Sweet 16: The Movie”, in 2007.

Restaurateur and chef

In one of her interviews, Sicily said that her family has a long tradition when it comes to skilled cookery, adding that she is much happier as a chef than she was while she worked as an actor. Sometime in 2005, while she was still acting in “One on One”, Sicily began cooking and baking, realizing that this was something she really enjoys.

In 2010, she enrolled at Le Cordon Bleu College of Culinary Arts, from which she graduated with honors, and concurrently, she was an intern at Los Angeles Times Test Kitchen.

Sicily and her mother opened a soul food restaurant, called Pinky and Red’s, settled in Berkley, California, and in 2019 Sicily became the chef of Colors, a high-profile 70-seat restaurant in New York City.

Her husband is Christopher ‘Chris’ Johnson, an American drummer, although people often mistake him for a former National Football League (NFL) running back who has the same name.
